Do You Think Many People went from PS2 to Wii?

Yes, exclusively! 53 32.52%

No, at least not exclusively. 60 36.81%

No, most went to PS3/360 instead. 50 30.67%

Total:163

Using logic strictly its goes...

Most went to the wii

2nd Most went to the 360

The least went to the ps3

This is all we have in determining how many ps2 owners migrated to next gen and where.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

I say no. I don't think that the Gamecube inspired many PS2 owners to go with Nintendo the next time around.

Uh, what? That isn't how it works.

People buy the Wii (or any console) for what it is, not for what it succeeded. This is the case for most people, whether they had a PS2 or not.

yes, I think many did, and I'm one of them. I have a ps3 now, but my main system is still the wii.
Many people went to the wii, but I think a lot also went to the 360. PS2 userbase has probably split between all 3 consoles.

I can't find the source now, but I remember on NeoGAF earlier this year NPD reported 70% of Wii owners also owned a PS2.

last gen parents bought the PS2 for the kids

this gen the same parents are buying the Wii for themselves.

That was a Nielson report.  If you wanna trust them.

Well, last gen I say that 90% of XB and GC owners were, really, GC and XB owners, while 50% at least of PS2 owners were "The coolest thing at the moment" owners.

Right now, Wii is the "cool" thing, that a lot of pepole know about, and it is what most parents buy because of that fact.

So while I think that a lot of PS2 owners moved to the Wii, I don't think that many of them were of the kind who prefered, what are considered - "hardcore games".

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Oh Nielsen, that makes more sense.  I probably confused it with NPD's cross-console ownership report (which didn't give PS2 figures).

Well its safe to presume many PS2 owners now/also own a Wii.

But obviously most core gamers went to the HD consoles.
