I don't care what the buttons say on them. I call them ABXY. If I wanted to play with green triangles, pink squares, purple horseshoes, and green clovers, I'd be playing with my Lucky Charms.

Quote for effing truth.

Sony ALWAYS has to do everything different from the rest... see Memory Sticks, Bluray, Betamax, MiniDisc... I always confuse the position of Square and Circle.

For me, the absolute truth will always be ABXY. Xbox ALMOST did it right... but didn't. Heck, I sometimes confuse C and Z on the nunchuck, but I'm almost used to it.

Shapes and letters? You are all noobs.

Cool people remember them from the colour coding.

Really? When did color coding come into play? Earliest I can remember was the Super Famicom (Was the EU SNES also color-coded?). (In the US, the first raw color distinction was the PS1, and the first to play it up was Dreamcast, even if it used the ABXY pattern that is also on the XBox, though with the colors moved around.) Whereas the NES (and Famicom) used A and B, the Sega Master System used I and II, the 2-button Atari controllers were identical (and not named), and I can keep going.

Sorry, but some of us "old-timers" kinda take offense to being called a "noob" for remembering when there wasn't a color distinction.

All the cool people bought third party pads with colours!

Yes, I saved my original comment there I think.  Euro SNES was coloured, becuse Euro SNES was cool.

I didn't count 3rd-party controllers because they weren't what came with the system, and thus the games could refer to the colors. I did have a 3rd-party SNES controller that was color-coded, though. (And now that I think about it, I should check on Super Metroid, as the colors of the letters when you get something may actually align to the SFC button colors...)

I guess colour coding works for people, but I you shouldn't call people noobs for any reason. Noob isn't even a word, it's a little annoying for me, isn't it suppose to be something like beginner?

what about button shapes? like the Gamecube had. whenever I saw the button on the screen I didn't even have to know if it was ABXY since you just have to look at the shape of the button and it was easy to tell where it was. I played Biohazard 4 (I like to call it Biohazard but I call it RE sometimes) on my Wii and when the QTE came, it was easy since most of the buttons on the nunchuk and wiimote are different. What about the GC and the PS2 version? I'm assuming it was easier with the GC version since it would have the buttons picture on the screen where as the PS2 version you had to know the symbols. Also I played Last Remnent on the PC so I'm not sure about the 360 version, but when you had to do the timed strikes they showed all 4 buttons (up, down, left, right). If they did that with the 360 version, that's also would be easier.

sorry, was in a hurry for this post :S

Haha, yeah, I'm always confusing the C and the Z on the nunchuck too.  Funny that I'm having the most trouble with my favorite controller setup.

It's 5 seconds of memorization and then 2-6 hours of diverse gameplay to memorize a new button scheme.

Anyone who has problems with Nintendo/Sony controllers is just plain lazy and a poor gamer.

Yeah I still mix up the square and circle buttons positions..

well the xbox controller doesn't only have letters though.. It's brightly color coded. Makes it easier imo.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

360 controller throws me off since A/B are reverse what they are on the GCN controller.
