Forums - Sony Discussion - What will be the base hardware sales for all three consoles in 2010?

2009 is over and 2010 has begun, some drastic events happened in the later half of 2009, PS3 saw some shortages too which it didnt saw even on its launch. :) Wii tumbled but with price drop and NSMB its back to its awesome form and XBOX360 manage to stay in fight with some very good bundles, discounts and coupons...

But Now What baseline weekly sales you are expecting from each of the three consoles. As there are many great games coming in Q1 2010 i think Q1 baseline will be a lot higher than 2009..

So i think for

Q1

PS3 -> 230k

X360 -> 180k

Wii -> 350k

Q2

PS3 -> 200k

X360 -> 170k

Wii -> 280k

seems about right

BTW ps3 DID see massive shortages in USA on its launch

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

im hoping for ps3 to sell more than the wii!! lol

Why is this topic in Sony discussion instead of Sales or Gaming? :(

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Because 2010 is the year of the PS3 dood!!!!

If PS3 can out sell 360 worldwide by 100 000 units a week, then by 2011 PS3 will have the larger install base.

Now if PS3 can out sell 360 worldwide by 75 000 units a week, then by E3 2011 PS3 will have the larger install base.

Its hard to predict base sales, but by 2012 PS3 will for sure have a larger install base.

my bad, can mod move it?

i predict a price drop from sony on summer 2010 on their current models to 249, following a new bundle that's priced at 299 with 1 regular controller and 1 motion controller (with the wii-style game package).

microsoft will also counter this price drop which will trigger another unpredictable battle come sept 2010, as microsoft will answer with NATAL. =]

I predict wii to have the same performance at last year, but sales will get reduced once sony's wand drops, and will be further reduced again when microsoft's natal comes in. i predict that the wii vitality sensor won't gather much steam.

we will see holiday 2010 to be the most important holiday ever for all 3 big companies. it will determine if its time for a new generation to start, or if the current generation is sufficient enough to carry on another year or two. 2011 E3, we will start to see the new consoles for the next generation. 2012, microsoft will drop their xbox720 with natal tech. and 2013 we will see the ps4, and wiiHD. =]

End of 2010 Predictions (Original Prediction Made: Jan. 1, 2010---Revised April 1, 2010---Revised Again July 1, 2010---Revised Again on Nov. 1, 2010)

PS3: 46 MIL (April Revision: 44 MIL, July Revision 43 MIL, Nov. Revision 45MIL)

360: 44 MIL (April Revision: 46 MIL, July Revision: 48 MIL, Nov. Revision 49MIL)

WII: 82 MIL (Apr. Revision: 84 MIL, Jul. Revision: 82 MIL, Nov. Revision: 82MIL)

THE MUST BUY LIST of 2010: Gran Turismo 5

THE BOUGHT LIST of 2010: White Knight Chrnociles, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy 13, God of War 3, Modnation Racers, Sports Champions

Just like 2009, no wait that was year of the Wii, then 2008, no wait, Wii again, 2007, no Wii again, 2006, Wii as well

Hmmmmmmm...

Also I find it funny people think PS3 will fall off less than Wii, hasn't this holiday taught you anything about where PS3 is in relation to the Wii?

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
