Forums - Sales Discussion - Yearly HD Gap

The arcade needs a HDD that is the only thing keeping it from taking off.

what you need is proper charts....

Actually I put these numbers together just to have a look at them myself. Then I found it a good idea to share them but I was simply too lazy to make a new chart in the forum.

The Xbox 360 is doing well. 50% up on the Xbox 1 is no mean feat and all at a higher sale price to boot. I don't really question the idea that the Xbox 360 won't be up for the last time this year as they could either release Natal with the console and no price drop or cut the price of the console and sell Natal seperately it doesn't matter.

But I do believe it will be the last time, unless Natal is something special the console is teetering on the top of its lifecycle and its all downhill from here.

Tease.

Nice OP and numbers where we clearly see :

- gap is decreasing fast and going to zero despite a 1 year head start
- PS3 1st year sold more than 360 1st year
- PS3 2nd year sold more than 360 2nd year
- PS3 3rd year sold more than 360 3rd year
- PS3 4th year sold more than 360 4th year

All that with PS3 being a lot more expansive than the 360.

Looks like the PS3 was really successful after all... Or the 360 did terrible, your choice.

Not cherry picking at all. Had the PS3 be out 1 year alone, 360 wouldn't have existed at all you know. It would have been dead on arrival. It was a huge advantage to install the brand, having no HD competitor.

Only way to compare console sales are with aligned launches, where look, PS3 won every year. Otherwise, without aligned launches, well PS2 easily wins.

On the other hand, PS3 now wins even in weekly sales and even with a cheaper 360, so either way you look at it, PS3 is winning now, and 360 is losing.

Does it matter ? Yeah, I think so. For Sony fans it does at least. We were so bored with all those lies. It's nice to see all those people eating crows now.

Good chartz bro, WTH is up with 2007?? 200k difference?is that real?

Could PS3 continue to outsell 360 yearly from here on out? Sure, its very likely considering PS3 hasn't even hit the $200 barrier yet.

However, will that allow PS3 to completely beat the 360 LTD? At one point I was certain it would, now I'm not so sure. I'd bet that the 360 will continue to sell well for the remainder of this gen which ends in 2012. I'd also bet that at that by 2013 both PS3 and 360 will stop being produced with 360 still leading by a couple million.

That's exactly the way I see things. Since the PS2 is still in the race you would have to compare the PS3 and the X360 to the PS2 as well. But that is absolutely not fair because it launched so many years ago.

Graph: The X360 is out a lot longer, thus selling more. At this stage the X360 was at about 27m.
