This is the evergreenest of evergreeen and it's going to join Wii Sports, Fit+, Resort and Mario Kart at the top of the charts for a long time.

He has no way to track MW2 360 sales outside of the US so it's US, face it......

I don't know what your big hang up is about this.

He didn't specify America, but it's not like it's really going to matter at all if you look at it from inside or outside of America.

NSMBW will have outsold 'a single platform' for MW2 by the end of January both WW and US.

Number one; Reggie is not immune to being wrong even if he works for Nintendo.

Number two; with the bet not being specified, it holds no value at all and all we can do is speculate. Forever...

The answer is quite simple really.

For those that want Reggie to win the bet it's NSMB vs MW2 on a non-specified single platform in WW sales, which, let's face it, he must mean PC (note he said platform not console) because no doubt according to the people who want this one to be the bet he only has the balls to make such a bet on terms which are the easiest to beat. Obviously Reggie was pussying out by wanting to have until the end of January because NSMB has already well surpassed PC sales, and even PS3 sales. If he wanted to be a real man he would have said by the end of December for this. Any competition on a worldwide basis vs a single platform version of MW2 was pre-destined to end in NSMB's favour by the end of 2009 because of the >20:1 sales differential in Japan.

For those who want Reggie to lose the bet it's NSMB vs MW2 on 360 in USA only. That is the hardest interpretation of the bet for Reggie to win so of course those who want him to lose will insist that this is the only valid interpretation. It has about 1.1 million to make up and about 5 weeks to do it. So needs a lead of just over 200K per week until the end of January. That is a tall order for NSMB because it isn't quite doing that right now. However NSMB could well carry better much legs through January than MW2 so it's still an open contest. If this is the bet you are looking at.

Personally I think Reggie would have the balls to take on the hardest of the possible single platform bets. However he gave himself plenty of wriggle room so maybe he isn't as ballsy as I'd like to think.

Who really cares that he made some vague prediction? Just let it go.

Reggie's gonna obviously lose his bet, but it's partly the fault of the host, who basically backed him into a corner on betting against the 360 version. All Reggie said was "one particular platform." If the host would have left it at that, Reggie would have won the bet easily, because it obviously outsells the PS3 version in the US. But the host basically set him up to lose the bet, and what was Reggie gonna say.. no it won't?

It doesn't matter anyway. NSMB Wii will obviously outsell the game combined worldwide anyway, which is what matters most. Whether or not the game outsells it in the US alone by the end of January is irrelevant.

The thing is, the only point to Reggie making this bet was to grab attention for NSMBW and generate heated discussions that would continue throughout the season. He kept the stipulations for the bet vague because he doesn't care if you think he's ballsy or not so long as you're talking about MW2 vs. NSMBW.
