It's downright unbelievable. Seriously.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is dwarfing the sales of Mario Kart Wii, which was an unbelievably, unreal monster to begin with.

Despite halo massive sales, it's niche game appealing only to certain market segment, while Wii is universal appeal and of legendary fun factor. With 4-player local multiplayer, there is really no reason for NSMB:Wii to stop selling for as long as Wii sells. |
Whut?
I am pretty sure FPS are very much the dominant genre at the moment, Platformers have not been a dominant genre since early 3D days. There is no way you can call Halo 3 niche.

That's precisely what I thought but I didn't even want to take part of a conversation where someone tried to call Halo niche.
if you guys really want to compare charts, then don't go over ~88 weeks, as then some sales get cut off at the very end (it starts grouping weeks so the latest week may not be included)
Also, here is a comparison of MKWii, NSMBWii, and San Andreas (the fastest selling single platform to 10m I believe)
http://www.vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=All&game1=Mario+Kart+Wii+-+Wii[6968]®2=All&game2=New+Super+Mario+Bros.+Wii+-+Wii[35076]®3=All&game3=Grand+Theft+Auto%3A+San+Andreas+-+PS2[3427]&weeks=88
Yes 88 weeks is the cutoff if you want to see every weeks details.... more than that and it goes up in 2s (always starting with week one)... I am not sure when it starts to go up in 3s but I would presume is is 176.
I have put this graph high enough so that it goes up in 5s, and thus catches the week 6 figures for NSMBWii... it may of course miss a couple of weeks off the end of Halo3 and MKWii but it doesn't make as much of a difference with older games as you can already see the trend:

Or the same graph of NSMBWii put against NSMB on DS and CoD:MW2 on 360:

That's an interesting comparison. Since Christmas is over I doubt NSMBW can beat San Andreas record to 10m but it will almost certainly tie it.
2D Mario selling better than 3D mario. Who would have thought...
Hey, now i Know why there is no Modern Warfare 2 on wii, they were scared of Mario.
But war... war never changes

Not sure if that was sarcasm, but it really was a shock for those convinced 2D Mario was basically obselete.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Not sarcasm...but a sigh of relief.
Sega Saturn may have been a successful console in 2010...if sega had only waited to release a 2D super machine till 2010. :)
