Here are the total sales from Media Create for 2008.

NDS - 3,946,585
WII - 2,862,818
PSP - 3,693,026
PS3 - 980,797
360 - 322,097
PS2 - 472,489

Wii, PSP, and PS2 fell hard while the DS and Xbox360 went up a bit. The PS3 saw the biggest rise, but that was expected.

Good news for 360 fans in Japan: You beat the PS2! Though I have bad feelings about 2010 numbers (unless theres new JRPG news for the 360 in Japan for 2010).

I really can't see that happening too often anymore with the PS3's resurgence, but I guess Microsoft can always pull a fast once haha.  There doesn't seem to be any fiscal reason to go 360 exclusive aside from that.

I doubt it to. Maybe they think Natal will do well in Japan?

I know in Japan they got Samuari Spirits Zero (aka 3d Sam Shodown) and a few other exclusive games. But overall I don't foresee anymore JRPG exclusives on the 360 with the exception of possible Mistwalker ones (Lost Odyssey 2 and Blue Dragon 2).

Yes, but you're looking at it differently. It's all a matter of perspective.

PS3 was up YOY. Despite saturation and not having a redesign/relaunch, the Wii won the battle for best selling home console during the year, which is the battle that really matters.

The Wii also had a price drop and NSMB exploded, but still barely outsold the PS3 which did not even sell 1 million console in 2008.

You see, it's all a matter how you look at it.
