I think Ps3 would of sold more if not for the shortage here in the US, I think over 1 million.

I'm sure it is the case.

Those are some good hardware numbers. Not entirely unexpected in any case, but really good.

Did Wii set a record for itself this week?

The real story here is Mario. Holy shit.

it's insignificant comparing to PS3 selling over 900K+ again.

Curious why the Wii outselling the PS3 is insignificant.

Obviously a console being just shy of 2million sales in 1 week is of absolutely no importance whatsoever...

that was not how I feel but rather an observation I had.

if you read through all threads about how PS3 sold 1 mil last week and how much it sold this week, you'll notice that people are making a very big deal on the sales for PS3 now. However, it's just another week for Wii whenever it's brought up how well Wii is doing.

That's the thing though. The Wii sells amazingly every year.

In 2006, the Wii sold amazingly. In 2007, the Wii sold amazingly. In 2008, the Wii embarrassed the HD consoles over and over and took the holiday season by storm. And in 2009, it did the same. We're used to the Wii selling tremendously well, and it has already run away with an easy first place among home consoles. There's no real excitement because it doesn't have extreme ups and downs like the HD consoles do. The reason PS3 sales are so interesting is because they went from being very low to tremendously high, with doom and gloom replaced with optimisn and cheer. The Wii may have had some shaky sales at some points this year, but it was always selling very well.

And some people in this thread need to cut down the fanboyism. It's just a gaming system, damn.

Playstation 3 got adjusted down last week, so it did NOT top 1 Million...
Wii is insane! But it'll drop year after year from now on.. same with 360.
Ps3 will hit it's peek this year.

Dunno, there are some big titles left from Nintendo for 2010. Since 2009 was fairly lackluster, expecting YOY in 2010 to be greater than 2009 isnt out of the question.

As for PS3, remains to be seen, there is a solid library for 2010, but their big system sellers are out now, and the price cut added in. Should be interesting in Nov to see how the YoY for the Slim is.

??? Biggest system sellers? GT5 says hello, especially in others. Some will argue that FFXIII despite being multi, it will still be a system seller.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

I agree that Wii has always been selling really well, but this could be a record breaking week (and probably month). People laughed at/bashed ioi a few months ago when he said Wii would have a better December this year than last year with no supply issue since Wii has peaked last year. Then again we have to wait for NPD numbers to confirm.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

OK...I have been noticing for a while now that some people claim the 360 did not get an "real" price cut, and it didn't really get a price cut, and it didn't get an official price cut...etc

But, what I don't understand is that, how can something that previously cost $399, and now costs $299, not get a price cut to get down there. The 360 elite is $100 cheaper than it was before. So, again I ask, why do so many claim the 360 didn't get a price cut, when, the $100 difference in price says otherwise.

Now, I know a while ago, Naznatips (don't know if I spelt that right), made a thread detailing rules about "exclusives" on the forums, and I'm wondering if he did something similar about the 360 getting a price cut. But, if no admin did this, then I really think people should stop saying the 360 didn't get a "real" price cut.

Now...hoooooooooly sh!t...DS...Wii...Nintendo...wow...good job ps3 for the 900k+, but wow...if the wii prints money for nintendo, what the hell is the ds doing, cuz im sure they have been making a profit on those things for years now...wow...jus...wow...im still looking at the "2" in the front of the 2 mil...i still dnt believe what im seeing...

who would have ever though the ps3 would have sold nearly 2 million in 2 weeks? if someone said that earlier in the year they would have been laughed at! the america sales are very interesting! NPD should be fun.

360's 5th xmas period.................. impressive numbers for a console with no cuts in a long time and an "alleged" poor line up last year.

I expect HUGE things from microsoft next year in both retail and XBLA games.

That was the quiet before the storm.

Bottom line_______________________________________

it had 2 last year :p and they slashed elite price to 299$.

not only that, they are tons of deals to get the arcade even cheaper.

and a million banned before modern warfare 2.

It wasn't one million banned but keep on spreading FUD if you must, its rather sad to fall back on baiting to debate with someone.

I think its a game people play with each other on here.  When the PS3 got redesigned from the 20GB and 60GB into the 40GB there was a lot of people on here in denial it was a price cut, they argued the 40GB was a replacement for the cheaper 20GB hence no cut.  It all was lined up to fit an agenda that they could deny how many price cuts the system had taken just to get it to sell relevantly at all.  This isn't a slight on the system when I say this though its just highlighting how insecure some people are.  Now the 360 had its price cut on the Elite this year and some people are using the same excuse claiming the Elite is in actual fact a SKU replacement for the Pro, in fairness there is some differences between the new and old Elites that supports this idea.

I personally don't see a problem though in saying the Elite got a price cut and the Pro discontinued, the bottom line is the cheapest 360 model didn't get a cut and thats why sales weren't elevated because of a cut.  The gift cards ranting is just lame as its not a cut in the slightest and their being hypocritical since they didn't mention them constantly last year when the PS3 needed huge cuts by retailers below RRP just to shift units.

Wait wtf is going on here???? Wii dominated again, ps3 did nearly a million 2 weeks in a row, 360 is up yoy.......whats with all the nonesense excuses why x console is doing bad?? are you ppl freakin kidding me???

Now instead of listening to rumour, here is the actual fact from the General Manager of Xbox Live:

http://venturebeat.com/2009/11/19/microsofts-xbox-live-chief-on-banning-modders-and-browsing-facebook-photos-on-tv/

VB: There were stories that talked about how Microsoft knocked out a lot of modders from Xbox Live. I recall that early on there were maybe 1 or 2 percent of the people who were using modded machines. Why would there be such a large number now? One report said it was a million modders knocked out.

MW: It’s a cat and mouse game. These were people that were pirating software. We try to keep sanctity of life from a safety and anti-cheating perspective and we protect our partners. We didn’t release the number. I cannot explain to you why people would think it was a million people. It wasn’t a million people. Check the veracity of that claim. It was one news source. I think we do a really good job understanding what people are doing on the system. That applies to intellectual property (piracy) and how we treat the community in terms of harassment. We are committed to making it better and better.

So in summary, it wasn't 1 million, people on here just keep repeating that instead of reading the actual facts.

Well, there were many articles to the contrary. I don't care either way, but what were they supposed to believe?

Lets see, do I choose to believe one story duplicated across several sites for headline grabbing clicks, or the actual head of the service who distributed the bans?

One of the answers to the question above is common sense the other is fanboyism, take your pick as to which you choose yourself imo.
