Look at my collection.  I just bought 5 Xbox 360 games YESTERDAY.  I keep my 360 on an entertainment center and in a well ventilated area.  I install every game I intend to play on the HDD to save wear and tear on the system.  My 360 RRoD'd on me twice AND the disc drive died.  I didn't let it deter me.  I still sang Microsoft's praises.  I didn't hesitate to buy a 2nd brand new 360 in January of last year.  Now, my disc drive is dead again.  $400 for my first 360.  $300 for my second.  I STILL can't play my 360 games?  What more do you want from me, Microsoft?

Fuck it.  I give up.

EDIT: I have to remove and re-insert a disc 10 or twenty times, but eventually my 360 WILL play disc based games.  I know it's just a matter of time before it craps out, though.

Well you have a PS3 and you have a Wii it seems. Go play Madworld, NSMBW, DSE, RE4, Muramasa: The Demon Blade and definitely get Blaster Master on the VC. As for your PS3, I don't know what your library, but MGS4, LBP, KZ2, Demon's Souls (I'll level another character with you if you want), Valkyria Chronicles and alot of the PSN store games like Flower, Fat Princess, Crash Commandos or the PS1 games on the store should also keep you entertained. You can always grab another 200$ and flush them down the toilet :p (no joke, I flushed a 100$ bill on accident).

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

DVD drives crap out all the time... it's their nature... you're just unlucky since it's pretty friggen rare now for one to go out this soon

Based on your overall posts you seem to be fairly knowledgeable when it comes to 360 stuff. Is it true that the Jasper chip is muuuuch more reliable than all previous ones to the point that the failure rate is within the norm? Meaning about 5% or less? And do you think he probably got a Falcon one?

well well another unlucky one.... and I've owned 3 360 and none RRoDed on me.... why 3 well I had the first one from launch until the break in in my apt. then got a new one still have it... and right now I'm in europe so I have one for here too...
so listen up I think I have the secret..... NEVER TURN OFF YOUR XB360.... at least that's what I do most of the time and I had maybe a couple freeze and usually because I hot unplug the ethernet cable while playing other than that never had a RRoD problem and it stays on weeks in a row with no reboot or anything...

now about giving up HW after 2 break downs... I wonder how many of you would give up there iPhone after one cracked screen... I drope my phone since I have one about 10 times a week never had to change one for such a normal miss happening.... a trend is a trend such "minor" problems are a real set back for a minority of people... simple you have 2 choice in our societies either you belong and therefore jump on the bandwagon or you are an outcast and decide to walk the other way.... this is true for apple, MS, Sony and shit load of other power scams... good thing in the console world we still have some sort of choice....

i would send it back to fix it or buy a 3rd X360 if i'm in your situation..

You trick me once, its your fault, you trick me twice, it is my fault. You knew that 360 has a high chance of having an RROD, but you still went ahead and bought another one.

It is your mistake. I bet if Xbox was a none American product and has such failure rate, then no one will buy it.

Where were you when ps2's dvd drives were crapping out through out the globe.......the reason why I went back to the ps2 was because of its unparallel library of games and if my 360 breaks I will go back to it for the exact same reason.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

u have choice with phones, there are other phones, my N82 have fallen alot and still works great, and the build quality it's excellent.

and there is a difference, u broke the phone when it fell, 360 malfuctions by a bad design of the company.

hardware isn't suppose to fall it's likely to get broken

Bayonetta comes out tomorrow and Splinter Cell/ Mass Effect are dropping soon. I'm gonna send it in. No way I'm missing those games!

Yes, Xbox 360 treats me bad sometimes, but when she's good to me, it's worth it.

I wish you the best.. You have some seriously shitty luck with the xbox!

Doesn't anyone remember how messed up the original NES was? Half the time you couldn't get the cartridges to read on the machine (before we now know how to pull them apart and if needed replace the whole assembly). I didn't hear any one saying they were never going to play the NES ever again back in those days. You sent your machine in for service or bought a new one - or both.

Oh and don't get me started on the Dreamcast too!

The NES did have a lot of problems with reading cartridges.  However, if you always put your cartridges in a certain way, and kept the connectors clean, it would generally work.  I have never heard of any of my friends having serious problems with their NES.  Not nearly the problems people seem to be having this generation (once again, not speaking specifically of xbox360).
