got the elite and it was working for a year.

You make it sound like an accomplishment that it worked for a year >_>

LOL.

sorry for your lost, but it's underwarranty. no problems.

we dont have warranty here. retailers give 3-6 months to consoles.

Well I've had a similar experience with my ps3 and feel like I should share. It's comforting to know you aren't alone lol. here it goes:

I got a 60gb ps3 July 2007 for $500 and it YLOD on me Sept 2008. I paid $150 to Sony for repairs and they sent me a refurb 60bg. The refurb YLOD on June 2009 and sony insisted on collecting another $150. Instead of paying again, I borrowed my cousin's ps3 (she has no use for it) and played it till sept 2009 when the slim launched and just got that instead for $300 (I've thus lost BC but I think it's better to have no BC than to have a time bomb for a console).

I've thus spent over $1000 on ps3 hardware when you include tax. It's annoying but I dont think I can do without the black box and like you I find it difficult to switch systems completely.

Why do so many people(at least from the stories here on VGC) encounter problems with the earlier PS3 models, especially the 60GB?? I've never encountered such, and my 80GB model from 06' is still working to this day.

I posted the title of this thread on my Facebook once, and within an hour I got a call from my pastor and youth pastor asking if I was depressed. I was only talking about Demon's Souls :'(

IDK man but I'd never advice someone to buy a 60gb ps3...not even for BC. It isn't worth it IMO.

55% fail rate is pathetic WTF is wrong with Microsoft. There making mediocrity a acceptable thing.

He's not quitting.

He's just taking a break. Thats all...

OT

I noticed you have a PS3. Go with that baby all the way.

FWIW, my gf's halo edition is still going, and it gets daily use (3-4 hrs). Just some people get bad luck, just send it in.
