Doesn't anyone remember how messed up the original NES was? Half the time you couldn't get the cartridges to read on the machine (before we now know how to pull them apart and if needed replace the whole assembly). I didn't hear any one saying they were never going to play the NES ever again back in those days. You sent your machine in for service or bought a new one - or both.

Oh and don't get me started on the Dreamcast too!

was the dreamcast that bad?

Sorry to hear that.

I gave up on the 360 a couple months back when MS "fixed" the RROD on my system, so now it freezes up whenever it gets hot, which is about 35 minutes of gameplay.

Why is there mainly people who don't own an Xbox 360 posting in this thread?

This site is funny.

Last time I checked, there is no rules or penalty to post anywhere.

Well we all love an opportunity to do the PS3 hard sell and you guys have taken the challenge as usual.

Ironically you're the one derailing the thread into a PS3 vs 360 fanboy thread. Knock it off, there wasn't any such conflict until you came in.

I used to own a 360 the launch one, yes it RRed on mine, lasted in a year.... and I had 79 x360 games for it, traded all in for PS3 so.

You may have not realized that popular threads (aka: threads that have had a post in them very recently) shows up on the main page.  When the title is "I give up" without any other indication what it is about, a lot of people enter.

Whenever the issue of RROD/system failure comes up in a conversation, every longtime XBOX 360 fan I known has had it.  I try really hard not to judge a product by a couple of bad-luck cases, but cmon.  I expect consoles to last for years, even though I know disk based systems can't last nearly as long as cartridge based systems have (+1 for N64).  I remember bragging about how I could play football with my N64 while the game was running and it would still work (assuming you have cords that long). My friends PS1 would freeze the game if you looked at it too hard.  Same thing with the GCN compared with the PS2.

Hard luck old boy, I feel for you.

I have honestly never ever heard about that.

On topic, though, that really sucks man. :/

Dude, nobody said anything bad till you came here, and I'm not surprised given your history. Quit it. Take your beef with PS3 fans elsewhere.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Well, I smacked it like a French whore, and it worked. Then, I turned it off. I should just go ahead and send it in. The same thing happened with my last 360. It worked for a few weeks. Then, it only worked when I stuck a clothes hanger inside and wiggled it around. Then, it didn't work at all. Living in fear sucks.

And for the person(s) telling me to get a PS3, I've had one since 2007!

To hell with that, i must have lost $1000 when I realized i finally i was just too stupid and decided not to buy a 2nd 360 after the 1st one RROD on me twice.

I just got rid of it after the drive stopped working, and the best part is after it RROD on me the 1st time i drastically cut back my play to about 5 hours per week and it still RROD a 2nd time.
With 2 jobs and about 3 games to complete 5 hours a week was not going to cut it so i dropped the 360 and never looked back.

I finally realized how much money I wasted on games, Live, Live games and accessories and hen i thought how stupid I could have been to throw away my money like that, and for what?
I mean I love games a lot which is why I had all 3 consoles this gen, but the 360 made me realize that I was dick that have no idea of the value of money.
