It died in 2008 when I was playing the demo for Banjo Kazooie nuts and bolts. It died just now while I was playing Viva Pinata Party Animals with my kid. Is RARE the problem here?

Anyway, I'm probably over reacting. It's just under a year old (probably by a week or two). It should be under warranty. I'll tamper with it today. If it doesn't get going, I'll send it in. It hurts, though. It hurts.

thats how i felt 2 years ago, you can see what i did! and best thing i ever did!! but i do plan on buying 360slim if it comes out with it all fixed or just wait for the Xbox 3 and hopefully be able to download all the games i missed! Halo Reach, Gears 2, Mass effect 1 and 2...im going to be poor lol

u have a 3 year garenty through dont you? ms will fix it, and if not just keep ringing till they do lol

I'd just go get a PS3. 3/4 the games that were once exclusive to XBOX360 seem to be getting ported to XBOX360, with enhancements. And the rest are either already multi-platform for the PS3 or on PC.

Plus, as you are already experiencing, the XBOX360 has one of the highest fail rates of a console in history (not counting really bad consoles like the Jaguar).

I have not nearly the amount of patience you have. I was done on one RROD, which happened very early on in my ownership. Sold it to my friend who sent it in for warranty, and now he has more games than I do! It rrod'd on him twice again last year, but that's not an issue for him.

Is why I will not buy a 360.  I'd rather miss out on a few exclusives than have a console that will crap out on my randomly and not even get anything to make up for it.  A single time would be all it takes for me to bin it (I have never had any console die on me in 20+ years).  A friend of mine who has had a load of RRoDs tries to defend it saying "They give me a free month or two of LIVE every time" but I always argue that it isn't actually a free month since he already paid for that month and he just couldn't use it while his console was sent for repair and he doesn't actually get anything except lost time that he could have been gaming.

Resident Evil 5.  My only Xbox 360 game.  I have this thing about owning every different platform release of every RE game.  The only ones I do not have are RE4/5 on PC and RE4 on Wii.  I'll get RE5 on PC at some point.

You bought an entire console just for that? O.o

Go check ebay  for a new drive, it's piss easy to replace the drive yourself. Total cost, about $20.
