Modern Warfare 2 has inspired Kojima

Hideo Kojima is probably the most legendary game developer in the business. Creating the Metal Gear Solid series, he's been a fan of the PlayStation brand for a long time. The sequel to Guns of the Patriots moving to multiplatform, though Kojima himself isn't working on it, he's currently working on the 'true sequel', Peace Walker for the PSP.

Modern Warfare 2 was released in November and according to Official PlayStation Magazine (Issue 040, January 2010), it's inspired Kojima to move back to developing for the PlayStation 3. Unfortunately there aren't any quotes, other than "After seeing Modern Warfare 2, I feel like I want to use all the modern specs!" And when asked why he moved to the PSP in the first place? "I wanted some young people to play MGS too" he said. "In Japan especially, the most popular hardware with this audience was the PSP"

Kojima is currently working towards a May release for Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, but a younger team are currently working on Metal Gear Solid: Rising, which we hope will be released some time this year.

I hope he does go back to developing for home consoles after MGS Peace Walker.

I interpreted it as "After seeing Modern Warfare 2, I want to work on a full fledged console instead of a portable". I could be wrong.

I think its great Kojima is still involved with MGS series after Metal Gear Solid 4. If he is returning to the Playstation 3, I'm excited to see what he may have in store for the console's future.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

i dont get it, after Modern Warfare 2 why would he want to go back only to the PS3, shouldn't it be both PS3 and 360?

Same interpretation for me. And also I dont understand why he is speaking of modern warfare? His metal gear was looking as good. Does he want to do a metal gear FPS next?

where do you get he wants to go back to the ps3 from that quote?

Why do people keep calling the multiplat MGS a sequel? It's a completely new game and genre and dev team..

Rather than get bogged down in the storyline of the series, I'd really like to see him craft a new game based on similar mechanics. I guess what I'm saying is that I'd like to see a game with similar gameplay mechanics as Metal Gear Solid 4, but have more content like Metal Gear Solid 4's first two acts.

Sneaking through the battlefield where two sides were fighting was pretty cool and I'd like to see more of that.

And for the love god god.... I might just have to snap disks in half if I see more of that insanely over the top crap that was in Metal Gear Solid 4's later cutscenes.... ESPECIALLY that Meryl and Johnny shit.

Hideo Kojima is probably the most legendary game developer in the business.

What about Shigeru Miyamoto? He developed the Mario and the Zelda series. MGS is afterall, only a 4 game series, no matter how good it is, and Miyamoto changed the ways 2d games were played with Mario and Zelda, and then he...invented the way 3d games are played with Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. Most recently, he's changed the ways gaming will be played in the future with Wii Fit, and his contribution to motion controls which ALL consoles are now fully adopting.

Kojima is an epic developer but probably IS NOT the most legendary game developer in the business, as long as Miyamoto is around, imho.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
