Forums - Gaming Discussion - I thought most ps3 and 360 owners hate motion controls

unless the motion control is implemented WELL, I will forever hate it.

if PS wand is nothing more than waggle-fest, I will hate it

if xbox's camera is nothing more than gimmicky mini-games, I will hate it.

I am sure many people agree me on that one.

I completely agree. Don't put motion control in just for the sake of having motion control. Make it mean something or leave it out completely.

This is only my opinion.

I don't care for any of the motion controllers. I really don't think I will purchase any of these upcoming devices. I kind of think that the Sony dildo thing will work better, I really don't see how Natal is going to work with certain games. I certainly wouldn't want to play any shooter or racers with it. And I'm not into crappy little mini-games either.

Personally, I was a huge fan of the Wii/Revolution when it was first announced (and Nintendo in general). I thought it would be the greatest thing to ever happen to gaming. Then I actually used it to play Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy. Meh, I'll take a gamepad any day. Wii Sports is fun though.

Now we have Natal and the Sony wand. I don't hide my skepticism of Natal. I'm not sure what it will do for gaming, until we have some concrete examples. The technology is cool, the applications to gaming are what I'm unsure of.

As for Sony's wand, there's only one thing I want from it. Lightgun games. If they can give me some good lightgun games, I'll buy into their motion controls.

well, when i first started posting here a few years back i was a pretty big wii-fanboy and i really loved motion controls. but the ps3 has spoiled me in terms of graphics, and more importantly very few wii titles actually use motion controls in a way that really improve the game (for the games i want to play).

...it's not that i'm a ps360 owner that suddenly became interested in motion controls, it's that i'm a ps360 owner that cautiously optimistic i will finally get the motion controlled games i expected and never got with my wii.

Yeah, there was a lot of people that were anti-wiimote and claimed they didn't want it on the HD consoles.

As someone mentioned, I too have a memory.

These were in the days of a poster with the name of John Lucas (and someone else I can't remember) who spent a lot of time discussing this stuff and trying to predict the future.

I am sure he predicted that the HD consoles will "copy" wii at some point and the anger of that prediction was quite something.

I agree. People's opinion on things should never change.

When your beliefs change to benefit your current circumstances, that is called "hipocrisy."

or enlightenment

lol, no way bro.

Basically, it just proves that nobody really hated motion controls to begin with. They just hated the Wii or Nintendo. If their favorite console got the exact same technology, then it would be the best thing since sliced bread.

When the Wii does it, it's "Waggle" when the 360 does it, it's "UI"

Basically, it just shows that people are petty and their opinions are not only hipocritical, but also meaningless because they aren't their real opinions, but instead, they're just spin and soundbytes used to promote an agenda, rather than to express their feelings.

Peoples opinions are basically turning into internet commercials, because anyone who flamed motion controllers on the Wii, but loves Natal or the Sony Wand now, are being hipocritical, imho.

When the Wii does it, it's "Waggle" when the 360 does it, it's "UI"

More like a "uie", amirite?

As more video and articles about the new motion control addons to the ps3 and 360, it seems like more people are being very hypocritical.

I remember how when the Wii first came out and those same people said they hated it, yet were the same people to try and like it then hate it again (its like wtf). Some people were honest and admitted that they like the control but not the games for the system.

Next thing we see are despisers of the same motion control loving the new motion controls coming. Its one crazy world.

I completely agree with you. In fact, I'd like to thank you for making an account so you could create this thread. I was extremely angered by MS and Sony when they announced motion controls.Check this thread out, I made it when Natal and Wand were first announced: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=75422

I laugh everytime I see people talking about the Wand or Natal becoming game changers when they all mocked Wii for it's controls.

Thank you for the link. Saved me for having to look too hard for all the hypocrisy. Am pretty sure there was some b4 this thread too!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

YES I still dont give a rats about motion control and the announcement of PS wand still didn't change my view.

I don't hate motion controls, but I do think traditional console genres work better with traditional controllers. I'm not excited about either Sony's wands or Microsoft's Natal.

By the way, most people conflate pointer controls with motion controls, but they're two separate things. Pointer controls have been put to great use this gen, in a way that motion controls haven't. I still prefer a mouse over an IR pointer, but an IR pointer works better from the couch and is more accessible to non-gamers.
