Forums - Gaming Discussion - OnLive: Is it the future of gaming.

It can probably carve out a niche, but in my experience most consumers seem to prefer ownership to subscriptions.

Hmm I still have problems to believe that its actually runnning well. The latencys have to be extremly low and not just sometimes but always. Because noone would pay for a service that wouldnt work properly during the rushhours in the net.

And how can this be really cheaper. And console games are not available but console gaming is the big part of the games. i made a thread about onlive months ago and the people told me that console games cant be played because of copyright problems. I mean Sony/Nintendo/MS exclusives. Such a service would lead to more exclusives on PS3 WII and Xbox360.

Cloud computing, server hosting... all that is just not real, too easily vulnerable to problems... fuck it. I hope it fails and the entire company goes down with it - just so they don't come up with such shitty ideas again.

For Hitler!

I don't think it is the future, the public will vote with their wallets though and I doubt it will be successful from that metric.

Did I say anything that provokes such a stupid response?

Why do we have such a hard time grasping new technology. I think it may take a while for the technology to catch up with us, but eventually streaming games will be a staple in the game industry (whether OnLive fails or not).

The same thing happened to the movie and audio industry.

This is only my opinion.

Not at all,dont worry Xen.

i prefer physical media too, but if it means that i can play all new pc games on my netbook plugged to 24'' monitor for 10$ a month/50$ a year then hell yes. right now huge part of my 360 games are multiplatform titles that were released on pc. instead of paying 20$ for a single game i have 2 months of all the games i want. my gaming expenses would be 50-60% lower probably.
