Ok - I know most of you are thinking... WTF!! NEITHER!!

I promised my wife at the start of the year, that we would end up with a singing game (aka SingStar) on the Wii. We are also likely to get a dancing game - but that will be DDR, and sometime next year.

These are the only two options I know of at the moment. HSM will be out in a couple of weeks here. Boogie has been out for ages.

(I would consider just getting SingStar - I do have a PS2 - but its going to cause a heap of TV input/plugging confusion if I go down that road...)

 - pretty gfx
 - dancing segments
 - good production

 - "broken" singing 'logic'
 - questionable(?) song list
 - shallow dancing game (no cross between two)

 - lots of unlockables (even if the game itself seems to be shallow)

 - ugly, last-gen graphics/presentation
 - no dancing (or anything except for singing)

I can't say I have a love for EA - nor that Boogie has been $100 every where since it came out (although I saw it today for $80 - finally).

So HSM gets my vote. This vote turns into a purchase - with the option of a 7-day money-back option if the game bites.

(I would just rent them out - but I haven't found Boogie anywhere for rental...) 

At first I thought this was a thread comparing the prospects of playing Boogie versus going to see an actual high school musical. Imagine my surprise. =P

Make her play Halo until she sees the light.

I like musicals. Never seen HSM though. I'd suggest tracking down a song list of each and seeing which you like more.

Or more likely... hate less.

So uh... i'd suggest renting HS muscial the movie... and see if their songs annoy you a lot.

I purchased Boogie for my wife despite the bad review. Horrifing . Simple awful.

We were prebared for a bad cheezy game, but it was just broken in the way only EA can break a game. It was annoying seeing all the pieces of a game executed so poorly. Glitchy interfaces and all.

The dance portion was unplayable as you just tilted the Wiimote back and forth like a metranome. This doesn't seem like a bad thing, but it always the same and never matches the songs so instead of being immersive and making you want to dance along with it you just sit on the couch and rock you hand.

The singing portion is pretty broken as well as has been covered in the reviews, and the songlist isn't great full of remakes so you wont be able to follow songs from memory.

We traded it in and bought DDR which is much better. Not great and is missing the ability to add songs via the sd card(an option which would make it a killer app IMO). Frankly the rhythym portion of Rayman made us dance far more than Boogie.

I don't know anything about HSM but it is better than Boogie, without question.

 It does really depend on your wifes tastes, listen to the songs of both then decide.
