This'll be a hugely skewed poll, because I know that 99% of responses will pretty much be people who Only use XP or Early Vista....

Anyone who has tried one of the better Linux OS...or Win7 know that they are much more stable and intuitive operating systems

Generally people start whining about how Windows starts being slow and stuff after several months. Let's ignore the fact that Windows 7 has been out merely 2 months so people can't even say that about it now, and address the fact that my Windows machines have not had any problems, even Vista. The wrost I had wasa a BSOD problem, and that was because of a memory parity error.

Which operating system is best depends mainly on what you use it for. I have a Windows 7 computer, linux laptop and a MacOSX Imac.

Depends what you means "best". As for the OS itself, Ubuntu is definitely more functional and stable than any Windows, the problem of Ubuntu is the very limited compatibility, but that's not a problem of the OS itself

Seriously... I hope at some point, wireless card makers, printer makers, and hardware vendors will realize that supporting linux and making it more mainstream will help their bottom line. Or any company for that matter. Think of how much money is poured into enterprise editions of various Windows OSes?

Windows XP, I don't need to spend 1,500 dollars for a computer which will be outdated in 6 months for some new "amazing" features like a slimmer size and different texture...

Depends what you want it for... if for something specialist and you know what you are doing, then some version of Linux.

Windows 7 is a good and easy to use all rounder. XP and Vista are still perfectly functional (though if you do have a relatively modern computer I would reccomend the upgrade to W7)

Mac OSX.... well... I wouldn't bother.

@Severance.... What are you doing with your PCs that means Windows crashes every day? I think I could count the number of crashes I have had on my fingers from XP... and none so far from 3 months of W7 (not to say it won't in future)
We did have Windows Me on our old PC though, that was a bit of a pain.

I havent tried 7 yet but I just got a new Imac at work and boy, I'm loving every min of the new SnowLeopard :D the magic mouse work like an ipodtouch and the way you navigate into different folders are just amazing.

sorry, the only thing I am not crazy about the new Mac OS is that the Time Machine lneed to be done wirelessly with TimeCapsule and yeah I know you can use other external hd but do you need to be an IT to configure it? hate it!

Mac OS X 10.6. I don't use it (I stick to 10.4 Tiger), but I love the Snow Leopard picture on the box.
