Actually they pre-sold 50% of the properties before they began. I had a look through the sub division map and they are pretty well booked though theres still a decent number of sections available <25% is what I reckon anyway.

Cool.

If I move, I will come visit you, and buy you lunch. It's the least I can do for spec'ing out my PC (aside from a 5870, I still have the same setup) :)

If I recall correctly it was a great deal considering the free motherboard and various mail in rebates! Well thanks, though I do suggest you come for a visit and talk to the people before you make any long term commitment. Its summer now remember so its a perfect excuse for a holiday.

Tease.

Oh yeah, we also get snow very very occasionally. Like once a year if that.

Don't go to New Zealand! They have the worst accents in the world and they have sex with sheep, or so I'm told.

Say hi to the Flight of the Conchords while you're there, pal. Hope the move goes well for you. Do you have work lined up there, or enough savings to just feel it out once you get there? Or are you a lucky enough bastard that you can just do your programming from your home wherever you are? Either way, best of luck mate.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Another advantage of NZ is that its middle earth.

I went on a holiday to the south island and my hayfever nearly killed me however. Do you have any allergy issues?

just got back from there last week, great place

no idea how to make this properly work

I have no allergies, so that's not an issue. There are a few jobs in the area to look at. It seems my field is in high demand there, so finding work is not going to be hard.

My biggest issue, is I own a house here, and selling it is going to be hard. It's -20F here at the moment, so as you can guess, we don't sell houses in the winter time. I could also keep it and just rent it out. That's always an option.

I think the way I plan on perusing this, is to apply for a few positions, and then take a vacation to Christchurch, interview, and take that time to feel out if I really want to live there. If I do, and land a job, then I will come back and finalize everything here and move.

If I don't find work or for some reason have second thoughts while I am there, I can just chalk it up as a vacation, and continue living my life here.

Have you even been to NZ, before?

Nope. I have been to all climats however. from as cold as it can get (here), to tropical. I grew up in Texas, where it was very hot in the summers.

So, the climate will not be anything unusual for me. The people/food/customs might however.
