Forums - Sales - Call it Spike.

I think it is fair to say that the PS3 has managed that fantastic feet or sales spiking, and has almost spent all that hard won market share. Actually it is quite depressing when you realize that they only managed to squeeze another 200,000 units into the market with their latest sale. Perhaps in the end they will push a quarter million extra units over the coming months, but thats the thing about a spike the effect is temporary. Just like every other Sony sales spike. The price cut or the bundle kicks up sales for four weeks, and then they are right back where they started.

While it seems patently obvious to almost everyone that this is how Sony spikes their sales, and how the trend will progress. There are those posters who not only blatantly ignore the repetive tale of PS3 sales spikes, but each an every time point to them as a lasting success. During the past week we had a few such threads saying that the PS3 in the others regions was not spiking, and the effect would last for months. Further more many in these threads claim that the same offer in North America is going to have a permanent effect. Some of these posters even claim spikes are permanant dominance of some other platform.

Well I just know in the back of my mind that these very posters are going to play oblivious. Even though its right there on the front page saying hello to them. Yeah you got it the PS3 spiked again, and it was obvious it was spiking last week, but I suppose giving up fifty percent of sales in three weeks should be proof enough. Even if the spike bottoms out with another ten percent loss it will be right back where it started over a month ago.

I think we all heard the garbage enough over the past couple weeks that it would make us all feel a little better to vent in a victory thread. We were right, and they were wrong. Perhaps one day they will get tired of being wrong. Would be nice if they actually came into this thread owned up, and ate a little crow. Doubt that will happen though.

I feel like locking this just because it's boring.

lock it. It's more of a blog than a thread

I'll take the case!!!

Wow, you make me not want to move to Montana... =P (Which my family is doing next year.)

Predictions for 2009: (Right) (Wrong) (Partial)

Pokemon Gold/Silver DS Japan in September

NES colored Wii and SNES Classic Controler for Christmas

Super Role Bros for Christmas

FF Remakes announced; VII PS3 VIII 360 IX Wii

New Super Mario World November 2009

You'll love Montana. Beautiful parks, mountains in the distance at every turn, and plenty of blond girls who's age you couldn't figure out to save your life!

I'll see what other mods think first. The thread just seems like pointless flamebait to me.

There is a huge difference with this price cut in comparison to the last one... This time, the price drops to the low of $399 as well as a VERY heavy marketing and ad campaign alerting people to this new price as well as letting people know about the PS3 and that it's here and they can get it now.

Sony is really pushing hard with marketing and those who are not the "educated" and hardcore gamers will see those ads and think "Dayyyyum" I need one!

My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.

Aren't all threads that have a strong view point flame bait. The sentiment is not unjustified. Rather then hijacking an existing thread I wanted to point out right now that the people that spent the last couple weeks spreading bull, and ignoring logic are about to scurry off into their holes again. To wait for the next spike Sony causes, and then it will be like the last dud never happened.

I think of this as more of an anti flame bait thread, or more specifically a preemptive strike against the flame bait threads we will see in exactly two weeks times as these very same posters I am referring to repeat the same nonsense again. Some of them have done it half a dozen times already, and they basically pretend like the last time did not happen.

Anyway I think most everyone had to deal with a little illogical smack this week, and probably got frustrated all to hell with a fellow poster who were spouting it, and now that they are vindicated. These same loud talkers are going to sneak out the back door. I guess there is a question of sparing the rod spoiling the child. Too many posters are getting away with sheer idiocy, because nobody is ever calling them on it, or when the evidence is in plain sight.

Anyway aren't good threads supposed to stir up debate.

I'm not going to read your paragraphs. Sorry.

It's obvious your spiteful, take your hatred to a website where people actually have enough energy to respond back, like Gamefaqs.

It's as simple as copy and paste!

My main reason for locking is because it's just jab after jab.
