For the record, a guy I knew in school moved to Egypt because of his folks' business. He likes it, as everything is so much cheaper there than in tax-crazy Israel.

thats egypt in a nuttshell , what he says is compeletly true, plus he didn't mention the heavy air polution (probably the heaviest i have seen so far), when you go outside you turn black from all the diesel coming out from cars.

i don't want to get into the which country is best, since everywhere has its ups and downs.
the ups in Egypt is NEVER go to Cairo, go to September, its a far better town, or there are lots of better towns in egypt but NOT Cairo or Alexandria

but over here (i'm in the philippines right now) it's much worse than that. for example, today, to go 1km took me half an hour. it's ridiculous.

huaxiong90 - Yes sir. I spent the first half of my life in Iran. Visited Syria and the UAE in the past as well.

@Severance - I'm also one of the people who always wanted to go to Egypt. At least to see the pyramids. I'll say one thing though, if you think that traffic is bad, you should visit Tehran.

@Xen - What do you mean by tax crazy? Here in Canada we pay two taxes on everything we buy. There are also property and income tax obviousley lol.

i've been in Philippines 3 times already ( i like it there! , Singapore also!) , and trust me its doesn't stand a chance against that, you know i spend over 3 hours to get from where i wanted to go back to the hotel.

3 hours!!! and thats in a normal day, not to mention i also went there again in when they had a soccer match against algeria , it was Hell.

Edit : that day it toke me from 11 AM to 6 PM. i don't really want to remember it =[
