*sighs* Well, IF there is an FF7 remake (of which I'm skeptical, given that the PSN version isn't that old yet), AND it were to go to the PS3, I see no reason why they would not also do a 360 version for outside Japan. The FF13 release will keep the series fanbase fragmented outside of Japan, and to get the most sales, they would need to try to capture the entire fanbase. The FF13 on 360 is not something I want to get into about right or wrong, so let's not go there.

As for FF7 and SCE(A/E), yes, they have publishing rights on the PS1 game. That's it. S-E owns the intellectual rights to the game. Likewise, NOA owns the publishing rights to FF1. So, why, then, did FF1 also come out in Origins on the PS1? Why is there a PSP version? Easy- Nintendo's publishing rights are for the NES only. Even a small change of system can require a different publisher, in the cases of FF1 VC and FF7 PSN, which S-E did themselves in both cases. Sure, it's the same exact game as was on the NES and PS1 respectively, but merely changing the system means they are not in violation of distribution rules. The only way S-E would run afoul of the publishing rights of Sony or Nintendo would be if they chose to print more physical copies of FF7 for the PS1 or, perish the thought, more NES carts of FF1. Hell, S-E could do FF7 on the NES if they REALLY wanted to. (Though you can Youtube for that to see what the result would be like...)

In the future, I'd not be surprised if for part of NOA's push on DQ9, if S-E even gave NOA the publishing rights to it. And if they do, it won't preclude them from making a PSP version later. (Nintendo may have other words with them, though...)

Not true anymore about the size limit. Shadow Complex was almost 900 megs.

Shh! You're not helping me.

Though I kind of expected those two companies to be able to break the rule. Microsoft always favors those comapanies that are faithful

They sort of removed the limit altogether, but I think the most the system can take is two gigs.

They also let Valve go over the achievement limit with The Orange Box.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Id Cry....I want the Blu-Ray to be filled if a Remake is made.

not likely.
FF7 console version sony have the publisher rights for anything related FF7 on a console.
but of course such contract have an hole, like ninja gaiden 2.

now eidos was bought by square enix, who had the PC rights.

lol, you guys didn't realize that most (I say most because not all are on Sony systems) FF7 games are on Sony systems because that's where the FF7 fanbase is? When you think of FF7 you always equate it with Sony. Many FF7 fans are Sony fans and they overpower Nintendo/MS fans that like FF7. It's not about publishing rights or anything as that's been disproven already but because they're catering to their fanbase.

If they ever did a FF7 remake this gen I see a 360 release a spossible, though not totally likely.

These are pretty much my thoughts exactly.

FFVII is usually associated with the playstation brand because FFVII was on the PSone. As for FFVII only being on Sony consoles though, that's not entirely true. I don't know if everyone has forgotten, but, there was a PC release of the game back in the day.

Although, I think a 360 release is possible I think hope Sony is smart enough to secure a FFVII HD remake to be PS3 exclusive.

THAT would be a system seller if I ever saw one.

I think Microsoft will get all major Final Fantasy projects from now on. That includes FF14 and even FF13 Versus. They will shell out a few more bucks if they have to, but we all know they will.

Square-Enix already has crossed that threshold by putting FF13 on the 360.

If this FF7 Remake is legit and it's going to only be announced next year (putting a release in 2011 or 2012) ... it's possible that such a game would not only be on 360/PS3 but could also be on Super Wii/Wii 2 if that system is out in time. Square-Enix's president after all said they expect the Wii successor in 2011.

If you're going to put it on two systems, you might as well go the full nine yards and put it on all three and maximize your sales reach.

That said I would laugh my ass off if it turns out to be Final Fantasy VII .... for the DS.

FFXIV was all but announced already, it fact it even was officially announced under it's working title (Project Requiem). The only reason it isn't official yet is because Microsoft and SE are working out the pricing structure (MS likely wants a Gold requirement, SE is likely pushing for Silver like FFIX).

I think Versus will likely end up going multi too, though not day-and-date like FFXIII (and probably FFXIV). 360 will get it a year later, like Star Ocean PS3.

Yeah, but FF7 was great and I hope they port it to the xbox.

I agree. I'd say not likely at all, just possible... It's funny people think FF13 being on 360 opens up all future FF games to be on the 360 no ifs ands or buts. *cough*FF14*cough*

It would make sense for SE to make it 360 exclusive. Many, if not most, of the people who played FF7 on PS1 have shifted over to the 360.
