Android blows everything away.

Android 2.0 blows everything away!    My Moto Droid is kicking some serious tail!

When I went to buy my smart phone at Verizon (needed it for work) the sales person told me that in good conscious he could not recommend anything with Windows Mobile. Now, Im not saying that he has any idea what he is talking about, its just odd that even the sales people dont want to sell them.

Ended up with my Moto droid and its awesome.

WinMo will be dead in a few years.

They had no centralized marketplace until October of this year - Nokia, BlackBerry, Android, and the iPhone had centralized marketplaces well before that. Microsoft has been slow to adopt, and stupid when it comes to mobile devices. Their shrinking is deserved.

Nokia will continue to shrink, leaving RIM, Apple and Google as the big 3 for mobile OSes. Android will be the only viable choice, as Apple and RIM have no real reason to support OSes on multiple devices outside of what they manufacturer.

And yes, Android is awesome. I've had one since July of this year. Its getting better and better all the time.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Something about this news makes me all giddy inside :).

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Damn it, I want a Sony Ericsson Xperia x1 but it has WinMo, I might end with an Iphone

This quarter the 360 will have awesome profits. Profitable hardware, very profitable accessories, profitable software, and profitable Xbox live.

I see what you're saying and agree to some extent.  Personally I want a Motorola Droid so bad that I entered sweepstakes to win one (too poor right now).  Android is on fire.

But have you seen the reactions to what MS is doing with WinMo7?  Its very good.  I don't see it ever being dominant, but if they (apologize in advance for using this word) create synergy with other MS products such as Zune, XBL/360, Win7 and Office10 (which it sounds like they are doing), then that is a very attractive suite of features that cannot be matched by any other mobile OS.  Its ambitious and it probably won't be as smooth as we'd imagine, but it could be worth the wait.

Saying its dead is ignoring exactly who you're dealing with.  It may be popular to hate MS, but it is FOOLISH to underestimate them.

Every major carrier will be pushing Android phones in 2010. Unless Window Mobile 7 is revolutionary, MS is pretty pretty much dead in the phone OS race.

It would not surprise me to see MS buy RIM or another company to try to increase their market share, but Apple/Google will rule the mobile space in the next few years.

MS need to take a hint from Apple and combine their Zune/phone/embedded OS into one consistent platform with one common app store.

I am not sure why MS is still in the business of making PC peripherals.

@jkimball: Actually i don't think Nokia supporting multiple OS:s has much effect on Symbian, since it keeps supporting Symbian in smartphones, while Maemo and Windows are for different platforms. Maybe this will change in the future, but in the light of current knowledge, that's how they intend to do.
