I think that a lot of that incentive is going to change next gen. Companies will emulate Nintendo as they differentiate themselves. I can see 360 sticking with Natal, ps3 going with 3d headtracking, and Nintendo, hmmm, not really sure yet what their strategy will be. Despite their talk of always being different, I can't see them abandoning the wiimote. |
Actually, one of the big bosses at Nintendo said that they would likely follow the revolution - evolution (tick - tock) philosophy. NES was a revolution, SNES perfected it. N64 was a revolution (3d gameplay) GC perfected it (dont argue, the GC was infact perfect). Wii was a revolution, Wii2 will perfect that style of motion control.
I dont have a link sorry
Maybe for next-gen, but between the PS3/360 it is way too late...
Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. " thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."
and who said it doesn't matter?

even without a link, that makes a lot of sense. I can't see them abandoning the wiimote simply because there isn't really any other venue to use to differentiate themselves better than motion control mote, and they already have a very strong brandname associated with moco already, it would just be foolish to change that.
Agreed, we're likely to see an improved wiimote, better speakers, wii motion + included, more memory perhaps, a camera? The nunchuk will likely have the motion capabilities of the WM+, without the IR pointer maybe.

That sounds pretty much like it.
