I would guess that they trademarked it to interfere with knockoffs like the Vii.

Miyamoto did consider the sequel of New Super Mario Bros on the DS. He said it would be interesting to create a second installment of the franchise. They will make a sequel on the Nintendo DS first.

20 years seems a little far-fetched but i would mind if they let nastolgia factor into game development again.

one of the reasons why both DS versions of NEW super Mario Bros. was so great was becasue of the nasalgia it brought back while playing it.

i dont think if a new one is to come out in a few years it would have that same type of impact

I certainly hope so but I think it's likely that it will be on the next system. Got this game for Christmas and loving it.
