Forums - Sony Discussion - Not very impressed by GT5 demo

You know you could just press select and go to third person view right?

Again, not to keep being a shill for NFS, but after playing that game in 1st person, I feel the bar has been raised.  I don't want to play a racing game anymore unless it's in 1st person, and I certainly don't want it to look/handle bad like it does in GT5.

For some reason, I agree. At least the menus are clean (nice zoom feature for SDTV users), but the gameplay itself was questionable. I thought it played like an arcade racer, with the tuned car or not.

I know the game is releasing in a little while, so I have hope this demo for the GT Academy is nothing like the real game (from what I've heard from the defense force). I really don't want to skip on this game so I'll probably buy it anyways, but I hope the end result will be groundbreaking for the racing genre, as in not trying to keep up with other racing games. GT used to set the benchmark, let it be this way again?

Also, the physics won't change because it's on a blu-ray. It will change because they fixed them along the run, not because it was a 200mb software running from the PS3.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

You dont think a packed blu-ray version of the game will look better than a 200MB download intended to show off the physics?

I really have doubts that the final release will look any better than the demo.  After all, they do want people to BUY this game, not just marvel at the physics.  Average Joe Gamer doesn't play a demo for the physics comparisons.

Well, I think this whole demo thing was really stupid and Im sure it wasnt intended for the 'Average Joe Gamer.' There is already amazing footage of GT5 on the net showing how fantastic it looks visually (see TGS City racing for example.) Who knows, there could be a 'proper' demo out in spring nearer release, but you really shouldn't have doubts. Hell, prologue is still the most realistic looking racer out for me (car wise, not environments) and from the footage Ive seen they've improved on it quite a lot.

I've played dozens of demos.

The graphics in the retail release NEVER improve on what the demo looks like. If this did, it would be the first game in history to do so.

why am i having a deja vu?

wasn't there the exact same thread like 5 times already?

why do people act like there has never been any gameplay video of GT5 and insist that GT-Academy represents the full game?

and it is a simulation, not an arcade racer.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

It's called ignorance (no offense to anyone).

Seriously, this is just meant to display the physics engine, not to marvel at the graphics (that's going to wait until a future demo or the final release). I know it's misleading, but 200 MB? Come on.

Yeah I find it funny those talks about "arcade racer" from people who never drove a racing car on a track in their life while the physics in the GT Academy challenge are maybe the most realistic ever seen in a video game according to real pilots and specialists.

Now talk about the graphics on the track, ok this track is boring (as it is in real life actually) and I agree PD should have released another one (for exemple the wonderful Tokyo track you saw on TGS videos), but it's in no way a 'GT5 demo'.

But please, don't talk about the physics if you don't know anything about that.
