Forums - Sony Discussion - Dragon Age: Origins on PS3, How is it?

^ I know what you're talking about since I play wow in raids where the build up of animations used to make my computer slow to a crawl. That never happened in DA:O for me.

I don't think it can really compare to Sacred 2... from my experience while S2 was really pretty... it didn't have as much going on. That being said... DA:O didn't have any framerate drops that I can remember.

Basically, there are frame drops to 15 or 20 fps when there are a lot of people fighting, but it's nothing MMO like. I know what you mean I played WoW and Dark Age of Camelot and no, there's no such frame drop in DA : O PS3.

I have the PS3 version and it is great. Buy it, it is a great game :D

We play all three versions in my house (me on my PC, my g/f on her ps3 and my roommate on his 360). Besides small gripes on the game itself, I have never once heard either of them complain about their console versions. From what I have seen of them playing the game, I havent noticed any real difference in the two console versions.

What I can say tho, is my PC runs much better than either of the console versions but not enough to not buy the game on a console (if you do not have a high end PC).

Hope this helps.

Well I went out today, and picked up quite a handful of games, including Dragon Age: Origins, brand new for £25 from GAME lol, not bad, eh ?

And it comes with the DLC armour and the Stone Prisoner expansion (I assume since it shows Shael or whatever the golem dude is called, lol) :D

It's just finished installing right now, gonna' go play methinks.

So doesn't the framerate ever jerk or anything ?

I mean, when my brother is playing WoW, his framerate will drop between 10-20 in 25 man raids, and it looks terrible, and if that's how DA:O will be on a PS3, I'm scared to buy it since I don't want to waste my money on an unplayable game.

wow, frame rates make people scared now O_o;

it was about people being frustrated about video game jumps yesterday.

boy phobias are growing pretty fast these days

...

in seriousness now lol ,  it runs fine, you might feel like an MMO because of the battle system , but the game is great and if you love bioware you will love it.

its a very deep game the character interaction changes depeneding on what you choose (heck i even told morrigan to fuck off and made my character gayish the first play )

Oh goody!!

btw remember DONT mess around with the characters, everything you say will have direct effect.

like if you told your teammates to "Stfu and stop whining" they will be all mad and bitchy all the time. or if you talk to them nice they're going to be more open to you and help you out more.

All three versions are fine. It doesn't really matter which console version you get.

My 360 version is fine. The graphics don't ruin the game at all.

If you can get the pc version however thats probably the one to get.

Well I'm a Dwarf Warrior and I chose to be a noble, I've had a love/hate relationship with everyone, some people I've been evil to, while others I've been really nice, lol, just finished the first part where you get framed etc. and join the Grey Warden...

So far it's pretty great, can't wait to put more hours in!

Hi,

So obviously it's Christmas, and I got some money, and I'm going to be buying some PS3 games tomorrow, and one that I'm on the fence on is Drgon Age: Origins, but for one reason; Performance.

I've seen a side-by-side comparison on LensOfTruth, and it seems pretty terrible, the 360 runs at around 30FPS and drops maybe to 23-24 at the lowest, wnich is when fighting multiple enemies, while the PS3 version is at a steadt 20FPS while running around and talking to people, but it dropped as low as 11FPS while the player was fighting THREE wolves, which seems pretty appauling in my opinion.

Now, I COULD get it for the 360, but to be quite honest, I don't think the graphics live up to the £40 pricetag, they seem sort of on par with some high end PS2 or Wii games, which isn't really good considerng these are the people that made StarWars KoToR and Mass Effect...

Does anyone here have it for the PS3, and if so, do you ever notice the framerate is so low, does it bother you at all, or is it so bad that you wish you didn't buy it ?

Thanks.

I didn't have any problems with it on the PS3, nothing very noticeable anyhow.  However - if you have a PC that can run it I would suggest a PC over PS3.  I originally bought for PS3 and enjoyed the game, then I bought it for PC so I could play on my laptop at work and I must say having more hotkeys makes a huge difference and I haven't played my ps3 version since.

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos
