Forums - General - The Official Manga Discussion Thread

This is a shameless plug, sorry, but there's a new manga magazine for Kindle (and I'm one of the translators...).

http://www.comicloud.net/eng/

The mangas in there aren't the biggest masterpieces of all time, but some of you might like them, especially the one with the race car theme.

One Piece 2 Year Time Skip Comfirmed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://i36.tinypic.com/674bv7.jpg

I'm really looking forward to this.

Two years skip! 0_0

Now things are getting interesting.

Not sure how to feel about that. Though i am very intrigued as to what Franky can do with two years of mastering Vegapunk's technology.

It's a very odd anime to have a timeskip, though, given that the events up to this point have only taken about 90 days or so (depending on how much time went by in between islands that we were never made aware of, but if we limit it to 1 or 2 transition days, it comes out to roughly 90)

Why has this thread devolved into another One Piece discussion thread? Didn't we already have those?

The One Piece manga going on a 1 month break has also been comfirmed.

Though it's a tad overdramatic and I don't care for the band, I'm shamelessly stealing this from another forum:

2 years? lol I wonder what the World Government is gonna be up to in that much time, not to mention lots of the other characters.

That's what's bugging me. Also the fact that Brook was with the Straw Hats for roughly a week, and then would be apart from them for two plus years, and the numbers look equally unconvincing for Franky and Robin

Given how "dense" time is in One Piece (that things happen very slowly by nominal standards of time. Most of the chapters/episodes have been chewed up by events that occurred in less than a day, the best example being all of Thriller Bark happening in one night), two years of time is basically going to reset everything completely. Given how much the world changed in the estimated 3 months from when Luffy set out to the time-skip, a two-year skip is very difficult to fathom. But it does open a huge window for anime filler, which has been a long time coming. The great danger is if Toei takes the same route Studio Pierrot did with the Naruto time-skip, and add in over a year's worth of filler...

I may be having a minor freakout here. I'm not entirely certain.

Oh God no! but if they did that, at least One Piece does have some decent filler unlike Naruto.

I bet they'll make fillers, but IDK I don't think 4 weeks of no OP is gonna make them go crazy with fillers if they're going like 1 chapter (or 1.5) = 1 episode or something. Isn't the manga pretty far ahead still?

Anime's largely at the beginning of Marineford (the actual fighting anyway) so they've got a good bit, but not as much as to be safe.

It's not the 4-week break that opens it up, i just imagine they're getting a bit close for a producer's comfort in general, but it's the 2-year time skip that gives them an opportunity to inject a lot of filler that would at least halfway make sense (and not resort to what Bleach did, and that random-ass filler arc that they put right in the middle of the Hueco Mundo fight)
