I'm pretty sure that they are from texas. They actually came to my college, and had a protest there. I remember that one guy had a sign showing a stick-figure kind of drawing w/ two-gay people having sex. He was smirking and obviously proud of his sign, very christian of these people.

It's the white version of Obama's church w/ that reverend wright guy.

Really, I think that phelps is probably a closet homo, probably looking at some porn right now on his password protected computer.

Nope, he's from Topeka, Kansas. As is my Fiancee, so she showed me his original church where it all began.

What bothers me the most about this guy, isn't really that he's doing it, I mean he's a shock-jock. He's the Howard Stern/Rush Limbaugh of hating teh gays. What bothers me is that the majority of Christians in America just allow it to happen. Basically, Christian America supports him. If they thought what he was doing was wrong or ugly (which it is, he cherry-picks bible verses but completely misses the message that Jesus tried to get across) they would be out there counter protesting him with signs that say "Don't listen to this guy, listen to Jesus!" or "Jesus loves everyone, this guys just a nut!". But they're not. They just allow it to happen, my guess is sitting in their homes watching coverage unconsciously (or consciously) nodding their heads with visions of salt pillars in their heads. The Christian churches of America have become dens of hypocracy and complete disregard for the message of Jesus Christ, whom they all claim to worship, but conveniently ignore whenever it suits them. Just like Fred Phelps.

Well, sure it's wrong but that's life sometimes.  You give a lot more leeway to your side than you do to the opposing side.  Either way, he's basically doing the opposite of his goals, to get rid of gay people.  We're growing a lot more tolerant, I think, b/c we see how crazy the intolerant are.

I'm not one of those that dont like christians either, I like all religions.  I also think that christianity will change with the times, it's starting to and I hope that it continues on this path.

Very Christian of Phelps to tell Lady Gaga to suck his disco stick.

I have no idea how this guy is even remotely Christian. Given his twitter comment, I wonder how close he is to the edge of hell when he dies. There is a special place for people who proclaim to be Christians, yet their conduct is far askew from actual praxis.

No matter how repugnant one should feel the homosexual lifestyle is, should ever result to this kind of pitiful behavior.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Is Fred Phelps even considered Christian? As far as I know he's a separatist, breaking off from Christianity because of their relaxed take on homosexuality, forming his own church. If I were a powerful Christian (like the Pope) I wouldn't recognise him, his cause, or his church as being Christian.

Either way the man sickens me, I'm thankful that he's banned from entering my country.

Gaga rocks! I will have to tell my friend who is gay that hates lady gaga that he'll get no more disco stick until he repents and buys her album.

Tease.

And here I was thinking leo-j had posted an off topic thread unrelated to Lady Gaga :P

I guess anyone can self-proclaim themselves as being a Christian. However, his attitude and actions certainly do not line up with Christianity. Jesus never taught his disciples to slam others for lifestyles that are considered wrongful.

If he broke off from other denominations and sects of Christianity, I am afraid there is no Christian leader that can really do anything about it - the pope has absolutely no authority outside of the catholic church, and no protestant denomination can do anything about a sepratist church. The only thing that could be done is for the Baptist denomination (of which WBC has in their name) to release a statement condemning Mr. Phelps retarded behavior.

Not only that but very mature too. (/end_sarcasm) Seriously, this guy should take his "disco stick" and put it in a meat grinder... The greatest service he could do humanity is removing himself from its gene pool (and I say that fully expecting a reference to a certain "honor" that I will not name myself)!
