Fred Phelps from the infamous Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) and the founder of ‘God Hates Fags’ has decided to picket an upcoming concert of Lady Gaga’s at the Fox Theatre in Missouri on January 7th. The Westboro Baptist Church has long alleged, through self-proclaimed “religious opinion and bible commentary,” that those who support gay rights were destined for Hell. The church has picketed the funerals of American soldiers killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as various other tragedies, claiming negative outcomes are a result of “God hating America.”

Lady Gaga become a target after delivering a memorable speech at the National Equality March — a large national rally for gay and lesbian rights — earlier this year, in which she ended her speech with the phrase “Bless God and bless the gays.”

Lady Gaga went on to call the speech “the single most important event” of her career. She repeated the closing phrase of that speech upon her acceptance of an award at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

I'm pretty sure that they are from texas. They actually came to my college, and had a protest there. I remember that one guy had a sign showing a stick-figure kind of drawing w/ two-gay people having sex. He was smirking and obviously proud of his sign, very christian of these people.

It's the white version of Obama's church w/ that reverend wright guy.

Nope, he's from Topeka, Kansas. As is my Fiancee, so she showed me his original church where it all began.

What bothers me the most about this guy, isn't really that he's doing it, I mean he's a shock-jock. He's the Howard Stern/Rush Limbaugh of hating teh gays. What bothers me is that the majority of Christians in America just allow it to happen. Basically, Christian America supports him. If they thought what he was doing was wrong or ugly (which it is, he cherry-picks bible verses but completely misses the message that Jesus tried to get across) they would be out there counter protesting him with signs that say "Don't listen to this guy, listen to Jesus!" or "Jesus loves everyone, this guys just a nut!". But they're not. They just allow it to happen, my guess is sitting in their homes watching coverage unconsciously (or consciously) nodding their heads with visions of salt pillars in their heads. The Christian churches of America have become dens of hypocracy and complete disregard for the message of Jesus Christ, whom they all claim to worship, but conveniently ignore whenever it suits them. Just like Fred Phelps.

I've actually tried to prank call their church back in the day, all I got was a VM even though I tried calling over several different weeks. Apparantly they actually realize that the rest of the world looks at them like they are kooks, and thus they are secretive. The amazing thing is that they are still around, most kooks get less coverage after a few years but this has been going on for a while now.

btw, I really dont think that people deserve to be hated and my reaction is usually to laugh at these kinds of people. Really. Hating them gives them too much attention. Just ignore 'em.
