I ask this because on Gamespot it seems to have beaten out all other PS3 titles for GOTY on PS3 and 360 GOTY from Gamespot is Assassin's Creed 2, which obviously got beaten out by Demon's Souls on PS3.

Anyone think Demon's Souls may actually squeak out an overall GOTY award? O_o

It also seems as though it may win an overall RPG of the Year award from IGN and already won it at Gamespot.

It got great reviews and has been acclaimed by every top review site and magazine. It will get a few GotY awards.

I am still surprised to see it beating out Uncharted 2 although I have heard stories of people forgetting all about Uncharted 2 once they started playing Demon's Souls.

What a long way FromSoftware has come with this gem.

Next year is 3D Dot Game Heroes for RPG of the Year.

If it does, then it's trully very well deserved.

Demon's Souls is by far the best PS3 game i've played so far, and one of the best games I've ever played. It's right up there with RPG classics such as Terranigma, Chrono Trigger, Diablo 2 and others, to me.

So, go Demon's Souls!

If you want to give it Game of the Year, create your own award for it that is that, and give it to you.  Your thoughts regarding Demon's is only what matters to you anyhow.  Why worry if any other site gives it the game?

I already know how highly I think of Demon's Souls, but it is still nice to see such a gem recieving the praise it is recieving right now.

It is a great story of a game that was pretty much instantly written off by majority of major publications (as admitted by the publications themselves) due to the expectation of it being a bad/mediocre title at best to shocking everyone and winning plenty of awards, then having a chance at ultimately winning an overall GOTY award.

How often do you really see something like this happen?

In short, NO....with the likes of KILLZONE 2, RATCHET & CLANK FUTURE, DRAGON AGE, MW2, and the unstopable UNCHARTED 2, DEMON SOULS may win best RPG, but G.O.T.Y, no way....

I think that the developers are the reason that this game will fail to reach that platue.Games are ment to be enjoyed, yes we need challenging games, but fustrating is not fun , and by them making this game excessivly hard, it may have turned away many gamers that may hae wanted to play the game, but didnt....The game is a great game in its own right, but without millions of gamers playing it and giving it their vote for game of the year, it may well end up being the next ICO....

No way. First off, it is a Japanese game, and second of all, Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 are around.
