I won't spoil anything but I will say it's a damn good year to own a PS3.

Well I think it is a very good list for the most part. But I heavily disagree with their choices for Best Shooter and Best Platformer. Other than that seems like a pretty good list with most of the nominations being deserved.

They gave best platformer to Ratchet and Clank, didn't they....

It comes down to values, i suppose. A rather grandiose, open platformer with a lot of action, with all the modern conveniences, and damned fun to boot. In terms of features, it works out, but it doesn't account for the timelessness of NSMBWii

Well for me when it comes down to genre awards it comes down to who does the best in that specific genre not necessarily on anything else.  And well, I have my disagreements with Ratchet and Clank (ask Outlaw haha) but New Super Mario Bros is platforming perfection and there is nothing else that came out this year that even comes close to how good of a platformer it is.  Indeed this is just my opinion though.

Same thing really for the shooter choice as well.  When it came down to deciding, don't think Killzone 2 should have won.  And the lack of Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena not even being nominated kinda irked me as well haha.

new super mario bros should of been best platformer, crack in time is awesome but no best platformer of 2009 in my book.

im shocked to see killzone2 win best shooter over mw2, odst and left 4 dead 2.

Need for Speed shift didn't even get included in the racing genre but they put some exclusive racer on the 360 instead of it. I am mad about that.

im really REALLY loving ACiT , i think its Insomniac's best so far, and i think it deserved the award, NSMBWii deserves it too! ... hm... maybe if they have one for 2-D and one for 3-D it would be better

and for me KZ2 was best shooter followed by L4D2. i haven't played ODST yet =s

So glad Demon's Souls and Killzone 2 won best RPG and Best Shooter, they definitely deserve it.
And Uncharted 2 took Best Action. ACiT also won Best Platformer. PS3 domination? @_@
