Just because a bunch of random kids on an internet forum say it is, it doesn't make it true. |

Of course! It amazes me how frustrating the game can get from making one mistake but then is so rewarding when you finally defeated a stage. It deserves the one point and then some.
Oh and one more thing. You're reading my sig...
To be honest, I believe it's score of 89 is perfect and very representative of the quality of the game.
90 would be a little too much.

Atlus only published it in the US. Sony and From Software developed it.
I enjoyed this game way before there was a metacritic rating for it, so I'm indifferent towards the score. Maybe a higher score would have gotten a few more fence sitters to buy but overall, I'd say the critical reception of Demon's Souls is accurate and reasonable.

This. To people who says 'metacritic doesn't matter': It does and Demon's Souls deserves a 90+ score. It will lead to more people being aware of the game and actually trying it. It only needs more people to try it. Very few people who have actually played the game have hated it.

It does matter, but it shouldn't. It provides an inaccurate source of quality. People put way too much faith in an arbitrary number that means nothing.
There was a time during the release of this game that I used to check metacritic every hour, hoping and praying that this game gets to AAA. It was at 91 for a long time actually. Till some late reviews pulled it down. IMO the failure to give 90+ to this game marked one of the biggest failure of the whole review system.

So did you enjoy it more when it was rated at 91?

A couple sites gave it low scores because it was too hard for them to even finish probably. Just laugh at them.
This game is maybe the biggest surprise I had this gen. Its that good, I cant stop playing
97 hours of playtime so far
