If i have to wear 3D glasses over my prescription glasses or wearing contacts, then no thanks to 3D.

Avatar did great at the box office but not amazing as it was hyped to be. I think the movie(s) that could significantly boost Blu-ray sales will be the Star Wars series.

The movie is 2.5 hours long and it can be only played in digital cinemas in 3D... No one wants to see it in 2D trust me. This movie will have huge legs. Not to mention it did 160 mil first week worldwide outside of America.

Yeah it did quite amazing.

That is quite amazing, just there were a few articles that stated Avatar to be the next Titanic sales wise.  I just couldnt see that happening.

I saw it in 2D though and the theater was packed (AMC theater)

There were only 4 people (besides the 5 of us) at the theater. Avatar 3D. The 2D showing at the theater around the corner was sold out all day (on Sunday)

Thats madness. Imax 3D show here in toronto is sold out till next week.

I just came back from the theater (here in Brazil), and there were about 3 rooms for 3D in that multiplex.....all packed with people watching this movie (wich is astounding by the way! 3D experience really makes it even more special). I was about to come back and we have this freaking huge line to watch the next session...man, this film rocks! Anyway, I made a joke with my mom and sisters about buying it for my PS3 (whenever I buy the thing...) so, there! This is a amazing movie that should be viewed by as many as possible, specially in 3D!

A 1080p Nvidia 3d vision computer monitor is coming out. The first to be officially designated “3D Vision Ready” was Resident Evil 5.

Agreed. It was damn impressive.

Back to the topic: Doesn't 3D films required much more storage space?

I mean can avatar 3D DVD release fit on 2/3 DVDs?

The same for games if m guess is right.

Nvidia 3D vision already supports 100s of games and honestly, there are some like Tomb Raider Underwold and Gears of war that work as good if not better than Resident evil 5.

So that "3D vision ready" means absolutely nothing. I think all that means is that it includes the driver that lets 3D vision work with it rather than you having to download the driver from Nvidia.

Also, Nvidia isn't the only 3D player. IZ3D is doing some interesting stuff...As is Tridef.

Yea Imax here is sold out till next week also.  This was in a brand-new Digital 3D DLP theater (which was amazing btw).  Couldnt believe there were only 9 people there tho.  They were only playing Avatar in 3D, while the one down the street was only playing it in 2D (and that one sold out all day).

I guess the economy is so bad people will pay $8.50 for a ticket in 2D but not $10 for a 3D movie + a free pair of Eclipse Watching Sunglasses?

I don't fee like true 3D TVs are going to take off right away. If they do, whatever, I still can't buy one, but it doesn't seem like there's going to be much demand for them. Do people really want to upgrade their TVs AGAIN?
