I'll add soon the Game Informer score. Sometimes they are sporadic, that's why I didn't put it.
Duh I have already added it XD
Well, I'll keep it until the release of the game. 14 days, 2 weeks for now! Gah!
I am pleasantly surprised that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will feature elements from Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, as opposed to the lack of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat elements included in Super Mario Galaxy. I hope Donkey Kong makes a cameo appearance in this game.

What elements are those?

I just went on Gametrailers to watch the Invisible Walls episode 106 and they talked about Galaxy 2... They said there was a little museum on the Starship Mario where there are slots for each powerups. They said the Drill, the Cloud Flower and the Rock Mushroom were there... and that 4 slots were empty.
They said the old powerups didn't enter the museum. Does it mean there are 4 powerups remaining? That would be cool!

I went on Excessif and discovered you can play with Luigi after gaining 20 stars. He appears in many galaxies.
I also discovered that... there is going to be a mystery character that you'll be able to play after gaining 120 stars.
3 characters - Mario, Luigi and.... Wario? Princess Peach?
It appears the game has more than 40 galaxies... so a little more than Super Mario Galaxy.
7 powerups, 3 characters, 240 stars... it must be a wet dream!

The game 'only' has 120 unique stars... the Official Nintendo Magazine confirmed that. However, seeing how Miyamoto himself started the whole 240 stars-craze, I think it's safe to assume there'll be some sort of 2nd quest in which you'll be able to re-play the entire game, to get an additional 120 stars, perhaps even with a different character.
Whether that character will be Luigi or not remains to be seen, however the 'reward' for collecting all 120 stars might not even be an alternate character, that was just a miscommunication that spiraled out of control into wild rumours (check the link above).
For all we know, the reward might be a mirror mode that lets you replay the whole game, but mirrored. In fact, that seems like a plausible option to me, as it would make the whole experience a lot 'fresher' than playing the game again, but with a slightly differently controlling Mario-clone. This tactic is also one Nintendo has been known to apply in the past, in most Mario Kart games, and Wii's Twilight Princess...
Oh, and thanks, Rainbow Yoshi, for clearing that bit up. Hadn't realized you were referring to the sidescrolling parts. They DO remind me a lot of DKJB

I really wanted to make a new thread for this, but restrained myself:
There's a whole lotta Disney in that commercial!
