This is the two-player mode. The second player is able to control a Luma to help Mario.

You also have to feed the BIG purple Luma in order that he can give energy to the Starship.

The story:

After the White Luma sacrifices himself to rescue the Universe (end of SMG1) he comes back in the Mushroom Kingdom and fall from the sky. Mario rescue him (World 1-1 is World 1-1 of Super Mario Bros)

Peach invite him to celebrate the first year he has defeated Bowser... Bowser reappears!

they look so tanned in that picture, lol. they probably had a well deserved vacation after rescuing peach in NSMBWii and got all tanned on a beach somewhere (isle delfino?), this shot = all past mario games confirmed!

but yeah they do look suspiciously like the NSMBWii toads, maybe somebody will call them by their names in SMG2 and we'll finally know what they're real names are :p

I can tell you that this game is going to be better than the first @question

Because Yoshi is so far the cuttest dinosaur I've ever encountered and also because there's tons of new characters (like the woody thingy, Piantas, Orange Lumas, Big Purple Luma, Pink Bob-Ombs...)

The multiplayer mode looks very fun too!

And I absolutely love the way the made the World 1-1. I wish the next 2D Mario looks more like this in HD
