Forums - Nintendo Discussion - It is a shame how much crap this great game(Crystal Bearers) is getting.

This actually interests me more than FFXIII. If they included Vanille in this game, I probably would just pass on XIII.

I like the main FF games, but I'm getting tired of the huge stories. If this is a game, I don't need the damn story to be that large. Write a damn novel or make a damn series. It's a huge reason I don't even want to touch GTA IV (aside from the gameplay becoming hugely bloated), and I have all five of the GTA games on the PS2.

Outlawauron loves big, epic stories!

Wow this game just gets better and better. It has some awesome humor too. :D I fix my complaints about the battle system having no depth. That fight with blaze changed my mind.

Haven't played it yet though Im getting it soon but you sound way too defensive in this post so some of your points feel like an exaggeration. I do have a question. Is combat nothing but point and throwing shit and enemies? From all the videos Ive seen thats ALL in in terms of combat. No magic punching swords or anything?

Im not a fan of Final Fantasy or the Crystal Chronicle games on DS but since Im not spending my money on this Im just gonna try it out. Beat most of my Wii games already dont feel like replaying any of them and want an adventure game.

That's what happens when someone thinks something is unfairly criticised.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Yep it is just pointing and throwing stuff. What matters though is what you throw. For example I threw an Electric Guitar and it stunned the enemies. I threw a fire extinguisher( I think?) and it froze them. Also you have to utilize your enemies attacks. For example in the one boss he utilizes fire, you must use his fire, but it is so fast paced that you have to do it at just the right timing, and dodge his attacks while you are doing it. It has much more depth than my first impression that is for sure.

Also while the equipements aren't large in numbers, they affect the way you fight a lot. You definitely notice the difference between an Amulet that boosts your defense and one that boosts your range.

Should be good for me. I really liked the feel of the Crystal Chronicles world, but i loathed that battle system. Haven't really heard anything that would put me off this game so far.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

this is gonna be my first game that i'm gonna play for the wii and all the reviews from the critics have been throwing me off guess i won't really know until i play it on friday ^^

"Over the top cutscenes - This is a problem I have with the Final Fantasy franchise as a whole since the CGI age. It seems to me that they are trying to make the cutscenes more "EPIC" than they should be, and in my opinion that is something that degrades the story of the game, though as I will be mentioning later the story is probably the best part of the game excluding the adventuring aspects."

But those are things the critics actually like.

"Chrono Cross in its own right was an amazing game but people saw Chrono and just assumed it would be JUST like Chrono Trigger."

No. Square actually claimed it was going to be a direct sequel. We didn't just assume it would be just like CT out of the blue (not did we assume it would be "JUST like" CT).

Right.  I said it wrong.  If it was not called Chrono and they did not say it was a sequel it would have had a much warmer reception.  We did expect it to be what they said it was, which in some cases it was not.  That is the same here (in regards to the name).  People see FF and just expect something that this game is not (nor is it MEANT to be).  Just like we saw Chrono and expected it to be the same (even if they didnt call it a sequel people would have still expected the same)

If they had called it "Radical Dreamers", and said it was a remake of the Super Famicom adventure game, which is what it actually was, I do think a lot of us would have taken it better.
