I noticed in a lot of the stores in my area (Austin) this weekend that they almost all were out of the 120GB PS3s.  Has anyone else noticed this in their areas?  Are there actual shortages on the 120s?  Do you think this will hinder the amount the PS3 can sell if people only see the $350 250GB unit in stores?

Not a problem at all around here, plenty of stock in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro. One of which will be mine in 5 days me boy!

Not really. I was at my local Walmart around midnight (its open 24hrs for the holiday), and i passed by the electronics department seeing no 120gb PS3 but still had 5 250gb PS3. I laughed a little thinking that people only wanted the 120gb. I came back to my walmart less than 10hrs and all the PS3s were gone.

Im guessing those that wanted to buy PS3 as a present for Christmas and waited last minute had to buy the 250gb PS3 lol. To some, whats an extra $50 spending when someone really wants a PS3 =D

It's been happening by me too. I think that the PS3 would've ran away with Christmas sales over the 360 if stores ordered more PS3 units from SCE.

I live in college station and the best buy I went to only had four left (two weeks ago).

I wanted a 250 that came with two games but I got owned by my gf and got a gameless 120 instead lol.

here they mark ps3 399 each weekly stock its sold out, but now retailers are charging 30$ more for the elite for a forced warranty. since microsoft doesn't offer warranty here

Over here the 360's are all sold out as well as the Wii's. Still a few PS3's always in stock (at Walmart and Best Buy).

The 120gb was sold out at the Target and Bestbuy here in Burnsville, but maybe they've re-stocked since the weekend....

the stocks of our shops are full as ever. they know how to sell things -> order them in masses.
