Suprise or not. We already look at the end. PS3 might catch up, its all depand how the "last" year of the console line looks like. But in the main focus, 360 will stand be the next best selling console this gen.

We will have to agree to disagree. I might be wrong but there are reasons to my madness.

Nintendo makes a good product but so did Atari at one point in time. Both made systems for casual gamers and look what happened to the Atari after their overwhelming success in the 80's. I believe that Nintendo will face the same problem next gen. In fact, I dont think that casuals will buy another console in their lifetimes because they will be burned out on these types of games. It wont be until the next generation of people that casual games become blockbusters again and that will take anywhere from 10-20 years. Ninny is much smarter than Atari so I expect them to remain profitable but they will be the hardest hit as the casual gaming market cools off. In the meantime, the Wii will break all sorts of records and make them tons of money even through the next gen if they milk it long enough.

If my prediction above proves to be correct, then it will MS vs Sony next generation on the home console market. This is a no brainer. Sony is in hurting financially and the longer this competition goes on the worse their position becomes because MS is eating their market share.

If you look at Sony's charts, it has been struggling the last 7 quarters, showing losses 3 quarters (inlcuding one huge loss), and 4 barely profitable quarters. Furthermore, they have had 1 losing quarter per year, every year since 2002. To make matters worse, the price cut losses will show up in the next Quarter's filings so unless they made a ton of money from holiday sales, they will show another abysmal quarter with no real hope of turn around until Q4 of 2010.

MS on the other hand has been profitable through the entire recession and has not posted a loss since... well my chart only goes back to 2000 and they have never even come close to a loss the entire time.

Furthermore, MS will not need to spend as much next gen as they did this round and the previous because they now have a solid fanbase. At the very least, they have a huge fanbase in the west. I believe that the disparity will only grow next generation. In Europe and Australia, MS only now started scratching the surface of the fanbase but people know who they are now. Its much easier for MS to gain market in those markets than it is for Sony to keep their market share. MS doesnt have to do anything to gain market share there next gen. The east is a different story. I dont think that MS will ever penetrate Japan but at the same time, they may decide that its not worth it and just focus on what they can get in the other countries.

Next gen, MS is in the best position for domination.
