I just noticed how awesome and stupid those guys in the Versus pic are at the same time. They're wearing medieval armor while using modern looking guns. Wow :P I guess that's what makes them cool.

Lord Nomura appreciates your kindness.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

I can't exactly be denied. But it's not really a hardcore RPG.

its a role playing game of some sort, so yeah rpg... whatever.

So were just going to ignore the fact that Final Fantasy's have not only been about Story and interesting combat but:

Leveling Up?
Customizing Abilities and Weapons?
Exploration?
Vasts amount of Sidequest and Missions
Monster Hunting?
Looting?

Come on now stop the fuckin bullshit already. Final Fantasy isnt an RPG! And I notice its only 360 fans bringing this argument up while PS3 fans defend it? Why is that?

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Of course it is an RPG. Just because it isn't your stereotypical RPG doesn't mean it isn't one. Why so many people have to try and weed things out because it's not your "perfect" example is silly. Funny how on the other side they complain if something is too like the "perfect" example as well. Hypocritical discussion I will never understand.

Whenever discussing things like this, I always go to RE4. RE4 is a survival horror game. It has shooting elements, it has adventure elements, it has puzzle elements, and even some small platforming elements in it. Hell it has a lot of things in it. But in the end it is a survival horror. The first ever in the series to be a cinematic one and more action packed but still a survival horror. It fits the mold in more ways than one and it is the dominant genre in it... but just because it's not like the traditional survival horror games doesn't mean it is excluded.

I think that same argument can easily be used for FF13 here as well.

i think so but not a traditional FF,where the hell the huge BLADE that we all love playing with

You clearly have no idea what makes survival horror and thus understand what survival horror is.  RE4 is an action/shooter game.

You clearly must be mistaken on who you have just quoted.  Now I'm not goign to derail this thread for a negative nancy so I suggest if you want to comment further on RE4 you PM me.  Otherwise, you are totally off base which is not surprising.

I heard it's a sex simulator.

What is an RPG anyway?

WRPG fans will come here and tell you that you have to be able to decide things and not just do what the game allows you to do. But guess what? WRPGs wouldn't make the cut either. No matter how much influence you have on the world, you're only doing what the game designer programed you could do. That's no RPG.

Table top RPGs are the only true RPGs because you can do whatever the fuck you want in them. No restrictions.

As there are no true video game RPGs, you can call whatever game you want an RPG.
