Which do you guys think come first?

Initial/Underlaying nationalism, idealism, ethics, etc that those in the upper class/authoritative figures take advantage of?

Or is it that there are those want power and authority and propagate these things?

Some argue that the New Testament was written and revised strategically with politics in mind.

Have there ever been wars that have been purely about idealism, ethics, hatred, etc?

Is it that these wars start only from idealism, ethics, and hatred, AND THEN somebody comes in to take advantage of it?

What makes humans unique from animals? And what unique qualities incline us to wage war?

I think it's important to remember war is considered fought between GROUPS. A free for all isn't really considered a war. War is also a combined effort. So that is why people point to things like ideology because it allows people, even if they aren't part of an official group with authority figures, to act almost like a group.

What makes us want to wage war against other groups?

IDK, lol, if I did then I should write a fucking book or something.

One extreme answer will be for man to not have any desires. Without desires, they won't fight over resources, they won't desire others to be like them, to punish others, etc.

Of course that's something I don't want XD

Another is for us to be educated so we won't be manipulated by propaganda, but it's not like Germany was uneducated, and we were still rooting for war only a few years ago.

I sorta believe that all conflict is caused by interest. If there's only one antedote in the room, and me and you have poison, the only thing that can happen is conflict. There are things we simply cannot cooperate over. We all cannot be rich, we all cannot occupy the same space, we cannot raise two flags on soil, etc.

War is the resulting competition, and the weeding out of the 2nd party. The best way to get rid of all conflict, at the lowest cost, will be to wipe out all opressed minorities that fight for equality, those were had injustices commited to them in the past, those who want to restore something to the past, etc. Baisicly any outsiders. Get rid of disagreements by shutting up the people who disagree and are lower in numbers.

i'm sure a great philospher has summed it up in a great line,but i can't be bothered to find it,

but a man could have a perfect,life,wife,beautiful children and still manage to mess it up for himself,

even the gods went to war in myth and i'm sure they had a good idea of perfection

when man evolves to telepathy,it is said they will not war anymore and people will find it unbelievable that humans used to go to war,but i don't know if thats possible or true,we will be long gone by then though so we'll never know

If you think about it it has to be greed and jealousy as the cause of all wars. With Satan it was him being jealous of God being worshiped and his desire for power. With man it is one nations desire to exploit another for gain.  As for what makes us different than animals it is the ability to choose our own destiny to choose to be good or bad.  For what will end all wars the second coming of Jesus Christ or if you want to argue there is no god the extinction of humanity.  No matter what we can never perfect ourselves on our own.

The US is merely 200 years old. In terms of history they are like 10. Remember what a douche asshole and how belligerent YOU were at that age? Yeah, same thing with Americans.

Same with the Middle East, those countries were very recently, in history, left alone to their own businesses, and now they are fucking each other every which way. Same with Africa.

Europe knows better, they've been around for millenia and have gone through wars endlessly. It took Europe centuries to stop being assholes so I'm guessing the same will be true of the US and the Middle East. Why do you think just about anyone in Europe did not want to go to Iraq, ,or really, just about any war since WW2?

Also as Kasz said. We are animals. There are many ignorant people out there that don't realize this. We're no different than a lion or a cat. We're animals of the Homo Sapien genus. Instead of speed or gills or strength or armor, we developed brains. Also many don't realize just how fragile our lifestyle, especially in the West, is. Humans are tugh motherfcukers to eradicate, but our lifestyle can easily be decimated. Somehow that's a tragedy. We're just so worried about being equal, removing the "survival of the fittest" (and I don't mean power, I mean actual abilities, for humans it's smarts) nature from our society, that people will probabaly shit their pants if 4 billion humans die because of a virus. It's funny how people wanna think as themselves above animals by helping people with an extra chromosome (not a human as far as I'm concerned) yet they pride themselves on such animlistic things as power and military strength.
