Why would FF12 in HD have cost double? The extra assets would have not added that much to game's development time.
A lot of the extra time was changing the engine three different times till we eventually got Crystal Tools.

Because it's held pretty consistantly to be the case, even when these games that cost double or more actually have less in content then their previous PS2 versions.
There it would be equal content... and yeah, the extra asseets would add that much time. Have you forgotten the mention of car build times in gran turismo in PS2 vs PS3 development?
Not to mention the engine itself would cost more. Likely more then enough to compensate for engine changes.
Here they suggest they put in a lot of work.
We know it went beyond when it was expected to come out.
We know they pulled other teams from their work to help out.
Everything points to it being more expensive then the regular curve.
Another thing you haven't thought of. FF13 is being made by Development team 1. 12 was not. Meaning the salaries themselves cost more.
Not to mention, the extra 10% surcharge added on to the final cost due to it being multiplatform... and that this game will get more of a marketing push then FF12.
the places where there was FF ads were put up for free probably lol the owners of the thing wud be final fantasy fans and put it up for free lol
