Why is it that Microsoft is getting all of these amazing deals to sell more consoles. I mean first it was the walmart thing and then the walmart gift card happened again for a longer period this time. Now there is UK 1/3 off promo. I just dont understand it. I know all of you will say the PS3 and wii just had a price cut so why would they right? Well if you remember the 360 just had one too. SO what gives, why isnt Sony getting any of these deals, they would undoubtedly sell just as well

Microsoft can probably still afford price cuts if they need to.

Also, deals like the Wal-Mart deal is up to that particular retailer, not so much Microsoft.

i'd say it's retailers lowering the price of the console themselves trying to get rid of extra stock.

Is there any particular reason why they choose the wii and 360 over PS3 i mean the PS3 is having awesome sales right now, wouldnt they make more by cutting and already more expensive console? Also is microsoft losing any money on the 360's anymore?

Because MS really didnt have a price cut this year. In reality the change was changing the pro color to black and replacing a more expensive 60GB drive with a less expensive 120GB drive. This left MS with extra marketing cash to pass around to retail partners to convince partners to do special deals. Will be interesting to see what the final Christmas holiday week will produce in the form of promotions.

Best Buy is only advertisement available and Elite comes with $50 gift card if you purchase an Elite with an extra controller.

Seems odd that the PS3 is left out there.

wii seems to be in a weird situation.

wii hasn't sold as much as nintendo expected for like the first 3 quarters of the year, so they now have millions of wii's sitting around not sold (because they've been making about 2.2 million a month all year). i think nintendo is unloading all of that on the poor retialers right now, so even though it sold 1.5 million last week, theres still wii's to be found.
