I just finished MGS4(one year late, I know), and i noticed that the game don't let anything to be used in a sequel, all the Patriots, Big Boss, Liquid, Ocelot, Solid snake thing were definitily finished. Even the dialogue after the credits didn't let anything like the other ones did.

I think the only way the series can continue is letting all the old conflicts behind and creating everythin from zero using Raiden as the center of the story now, MGS:Rising just can't touch in what was finished in 4, it would be just making shit of something is already complete.

Maybe the should even stop to use the SOLID, and create a new series for Metal Gear.

That's why Rising is a spinoff to give the 360 fans a tiny taste of one of the best series every created. For their sake, I hope it's a good spinoff.

Peace Walker is about the past, it tells another party of the history of Big Boss. There is still the past of Big Boss to talk about, i'm talking about the games that happens in nowadays times. There's now way to continue talking about Patriots, Big Boss, Liquid, Solid Snake, and this conflict that leaded the other games since MGS4 endend all of them in present time.

Kojima would just fuck the plot he builded if MGS 5 happened to be with young Solid Snake, if the Patriots weren't really destroyed and Big Boss appeared once again, all the conflict were used once more. It's time to build new conflicts, a 2nd Generation Metal Gear Solid making Raiden the Main Protagonist. Like MGS:Rising.

There could be future games after snake's gone, but, you've got to remember that all the MGS games take place ahead of the actual times. MGS1 took place in 2005, and MGS4 was in 2014, or something like that.

Besides, anything can happen in fiction.

What i'm saying is that solid series are over. Any plot twist would be just too forced now considering MGS4, even the dialogue after the credits that used to make a mention for a next MGS were only a joke this time.

The only way to continue Metal Gear is creating a new series, like Metal Gear 2nd Generation or Metal Gear something related to the plot. And using new characters and conflicts, using something from MGS is nice, like a biological son of Big Boss.

I say just remake the first two 8-bit games (Metal Gear and Solid Snake) and give us a cinematic experience. Then, I can have a big Metal Gear orgy!

MGS:R will probably take place between MGS2 and MGS4 since Raiden still has his suit attached.

There are a lot of spaces left in the storyline where new games can be inserted.
