I had a discussion with a muslim friend about this two weeks ago.

The key takeaway from this is that they used a synthetic derived from marijuana, rather than using the pot itself. The synthetic is many multiples stronger than the drug found naturally. This is akin to a research team using a specific chemical found in tobacco to make someone healthier....It shouldn't justify the usage of it.

That doesn't mean I think we should ban it, though. Illegal drugs cause far more crime and problems than the legalization.

While i think it should be legal... the fact that it's a naturally growing plant is one of the stupidest arguemetns there is for that.

There are tons of things that are natural yet will kill you.


Poison Dart frog venom for example.  Their are other plants that will kill you if you'd eat too.

Marijuana has been proven not to kill people. There's a difference between naturally growing unharmful/medicinal plants and those that have the capacity to kill you. (The word I'm looking for is stupidity)

After 15 months in South Korea. Coming back to Canada and getting high was fantastic. A pot smoking society would be so much happier than an alcohol drinking society.

Alcohol kills people whether it's legal or illegal, but it kills more when it's illegal, due to crime and bad moonshine (good moonshine is great though).

Marijuana only kills people when it's illegal, due to crime.


There are a ton of reasons why it's illegal, but none of them make any sense, since alcohol is the most dangerous drug in the world, the most advertised, the most accessible, and the most culturally celebrated. That alone proves drug laws have nothing to do with how dangerous they are to the body, or to car accidents, or to families.

Marijuana doesn't put people with anger management problems over the edge so they beat their kids.

I don't like how it effects me, but it really should be legalised for so many reasons. Now it just seems like governments are being stubborn about it.

I think you need to meet more stoners ... Go on a police ride-along and see how "Peaceful" people are when their judgement has been altered by Marijuana (or pretty much any drug) and a "Domestic Incident" happens. The feeling that you're more peaceful and insightful that goes along with drugs like Marijuana is not the same as actually being more peaceful or insightful. 

There is no denying that Alcohol is a bad substance and causes a lot of problems, but the only reason why it seems to cause more problems than other drugs is because it is used by more people and the people who use it use it more often.

 

This isn't to say that it should be illegal, but the bullshit propaganda has to stop ...

I think Marijuana...like alcohol...either agrees with you or it doesn't. That's why you get varying feedback in test cases, friends etc. People who usually 'handle' marijuana in their systems properly tend to behave similarly, unlike those who can't, where you get results from all ends of the spectrum. Of course it could all just be placebo-like.
