I had a discussion with a muslim friend about this two weeks ago.
The key takeaway from this is that they used a synthetic derived from marijuana, rather than using the pot itself. The synthetic is many multiples stronger than the drug found naturally. This is akin to a research team using a specific chemical found in tobacco to make someone healthier....It shouldn't justify the usage of it.
That doesn't mean I think we should ban it, though. Illegal drugs cause far more crime and problems than the legalization.
