xenogears, easy

@Xxain

I know it got criticized for that, but also got such high praises for being a true representative of JRPG's this gen. It may not be a smash hit, but it showed that JRPG's on their traditional formula can still work nowadays.

Alas, the one HD JRPG I can remember that got much more criticized for going into a more Action oriented style is Infinite Undiscovery. Plus Star Ocean IV got criticized as well for going a bit far from it's original formula.

JRPG's in the traditional formula can still work, if they are well executed ;)

I geuss the annoying thing is about this topic is that ppl pick games dont need remake, there just graphics whore who need to play everything in HD. I like remakes when they serve a purpose or need on one, why does FF8&9/LoD/Xenogears ext need a remake? what could be given to these games other than better graphics

THANK YOU. Someone finally mentions what many publications have called THE BEST 2D game in that genre EVER. SOTN cannot be touched. I still cannot believe that noone here has mentioned one of the RPGs with the best fighting system.....Valkyrie Profile 1. I know they did a semi updated one for PSP and I enjoyed it, the CGs were amazing, the story in that game is incredible, 3 endings don't hurt, etc. Chrono Cross would be a great choice also. I am glad someone remembered Einhander, and for those that don't know it is one of the best shmups ever created by Squaresoft. Lunar from the PS1 would work, Star Ocean 2nd story, LoD, FFVII, FFVIII, Musashi, etc.

Now if they were going to build the fighting system, they could use either the VP1 or VP2's (ps2 game) fighting system. Think about it, you have Barret open with a few shots, Tifa runs in with the combo, Cloud joins from the side half a second later, their meter charges up to 100%, and Cloud closes it with omnislash. For those that haven't played VP1 and 2 to the end, I suggest you do so and marvel at the fighting system when it reaches its peak.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

VP1 doesn't need a remake....just VP3 :)

@Xxain

That's exactly my point, and why I said that it's pretty far-fetched to even think of a remake of those games. Other than graphical enhancements, there's really no point in making them.

Granted, younger generations of gamers that don't or didn't have access to those games, could be better presented to them if that happened, but other than that, it's best to keep them as they are.

1. Tail of the sun
2. Jet Moto
3. Syndicate wars
4. Parasite Eve
5. Chrono Cross
6. Colony Wars
7. FF7/FF8

I've been thinking about this for a little while now and I want to voice my opinion on getting a Legend of Dragoon remake.

The game did well enough to get the Greatest Hits treatment back in 2000. Also a strong base of Sony loyalists have been asking for either a sequel or a remake for quite some time. It wouldn't be much to make it happen either. Look at God of War Collection. 15 weeks. That's it. I understand the graphics are worse on the PS1, but it shouldn't take long to make it happen.

Anyone else on board?

good post.

There's easily 1 game above everything else that needs a remake: Persona 2 Innocent Sin. This would give Atlus USA an excuse to translate it and bring it over!
