I hope they port Mass Effect 2 to PS3. Would sell 2mil copies eventually. That's got to be worth the porting effort.

2 mil? When it's a sequel with the point being to have a save file transfer to supplement your own story? No that wouldn't happen without the help of hefty price drops early on.

Haha, oh please!

The game isn't in the slightest unplayable just because you don't have a save file from the first game. It's not "the point being", it's just a big bonus if you do still have your old file.

Regardless, Bioware have already confirmed themselves that you can pick up ME2 without having played the first and you won't not understand what's going on.

Sigh, if this is gonna help you sleep at night then say what you please but if your any sort of a RPG fan you would know your transferable save file from the first game is more than a "big bonus", if your trying to convince yourself otherwise your truly only fooling yourself.

This is completely missing the point and many other games give you an understanding of what happened in the last one if you haven't played it to begin with.

Hahaha, I've played hundreds of RPGs since I started gaming in 1997, but sure, that counts for nothing since I don't have a save file from the first game, oh boy...

If you're gonna be dragging me back here for petty comments, I suggest you stop now or try to get some relevance back into your posts instead of berating of how many number of RPG's you've said to have played.

I just don't like the implication that the ME2 experience is going be severely compromised if you don't have a save file from ME1.

@ coolbeans

>_>, you dont need to play the first version of any game if the second one is good enough to cover both....surely i understand where you are coming from but telling him "oh people should always play the first one cause it adds to the experience" will suffice, you dont have to make wholikedwood look like an ass just because of his comment which is a valid one...i too have been gaming for quite a while and i will bet that playing ME2 without playing the first one will be fine,  and no one has to be a "RPG fan" to understand what your trying to get across.

I honestly think that Roticcielo is going to get kick out. EA financial problems are only beginning. They bet on all the wrong horses again and again. First was the PSP, then heavily on HD and MMOs. Now they are going to invest on Social networking facebook games (playfish)? EA is digging its own grave

This generation has to be the worst ever for EA. From the beginning they invested heavily on all the wrong trends, especially HD and MMO games. First they missed the mark on the PSP, today nothing profitable or worth the effort resulted from that. Then they bet on the HD race, a very expensive one and on two equally expensive plataforms that required costly tv sets to fully enjoy the HD.We see how that played out for them. On the MMO front, in my opinion, too many MMOs can't coexist at the same time, simple put, there not enough users and WoW take all the pie. Look at Warhammer online.
EA needs to stop pretend that they are bigger enough to influence gaming trends, and recognise that is not only horsepower and graphics the most important aspect of this industry. MAKE GOOD WII GAMES OR GO BANKRUPT

The issues seems to be that EA makes every game new IP or not a big budget game. Can't they lower the budget a little bit.

except for the whole part of M$ giving them back the rights to publish the game...anyway...2 million...WOW...considering what games have done 2 million on the PS3.

I'm not too read up on the legal status of Mass Effect 2, or Mass Effect as a franchise. Maybe you can educate me?

I checked the Wiki page of Microsoft owned IPs and Mass Effect wasn't there so I wasn't sure.

As for the game selling 2 millon on PS3 - I think it's possible. I literally mean life to death, emphasis on the death, because it would certainly be crawling from 1.5mil onwards. Maybe 1.8mil would be more realistic.

microsoft published ninja gaiden 2 OH ;)

it looks like there is a difference between owing and publishing.

I don't know how you think this would sell 2 million considering:

A) It would be a timed exclusive, and those normally don't sell near half as much as they did on the original platform.

B) It would be a bit pointless to port the second game over without the first, and is there really that much demand for a port of a three or possibly four year old game by the time it releases?

C) Has any WRPG sold 2 million on the PS3? The genre as a whole is more popular on the 360, and even there Mass Effect barely broke 2 million.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

You're right, I was far too ambitious.

Let's halve that to 1 million PS3 sales of ME2 - that would make the port worthwhile probably?

They're going to make even more Wii and DS junk titles. They're going to make even more Sports sequels. And they're going to cut short many of the games they've been working on and rush them to release. All in an effort to cover their losses.

Standard EA procedures. If we're losing money, just double effort to try and make more! Don't fix the problem, just do more!
