Forums - Sony - Yakuza 3 Storming Into Stores: Dics based or DLC?

Source: Siliconera

Sega announced Yakuza 3 for North America, but will it be PlayStation Network exclusive or a disc in a shiny case?

Gamestop hints at the latter. The retailer is accepting pre-orders for Yakuza 3, which costs $59.99 through them.

If Sega releases Yakuza 3 into retail, it will be the first PS3 game with only Japanese voiceovers to get a physical release in North America. Other games like Record of Agarest War and Battle Fantasia from Aksys are only available as PlayStation Network downloads here.

Slow news day?

Honestly, hardly the most exciting news ever, and I would never, ever have expected SEGA to make it a PSN release.

I thought it was a no-brainer to be disc based...

Well, there's a rumor that it will just a PSN release so this just sealed the deal for me. This will let me feel at ease. Lol! Just want to share.

This is completely off topic @ghazi4 but I can't stop staring at the Ninty sig on the left and on the sig all the way on your right rofl. And yes I am excited for Yakuza 3 being disc based and have it on my wishlist along with FFXIII, FF vs XIII, MAG, Heavy Rain, WKC, GOW3, Ar Tonelico 3, The Last Rebellion and GT5 (I missed a couple but you get the idea). 2010 will hurt the PS3 owners' wallet lol.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

If Yakuza 2 did it im sure Yakuza 3 can too since part 2 had only Japanese voiceovers.

Expect worst sales if its only on PSN, I would not want to waste my time/bandwidth downloading it. And i much prefer a physical copy.

hmm I'd like it to be a downloadable title :p

Check out my game about moles ^

I prefer digital DL myself, though I realize I am an extreme minority amongst console gamers in this regard... so I am glad its getting a disc release, more sales = more chance 4 will be brought over posthaste.

But still, would be nice to have the option... or at least ability to do a full install and not need disc. ( Disc swapping is what I really hate )

Wow, this must be very big for downloading. Yakuza 2 for PS2 was released on Japan using 2 DVD-9 discs, but on Europe it was released on a single DVD-9 and because of that cutscene quality was reduced. I don't think they will release a blu-ray title on PSN, only if they reduce quality, and if they do that again.... i won't buy it.
