SLI requires more than 2 PCI-e slots. It requires you to have an Nvidia motherboard, or one of the few motherboards Nvidia has certified for SLI (P55 or X58). If they have, it will be on the motherboard specs or in a BIOS update. Crossfire has no such restrictions. I know the setup will give greater performance in most games, but if SLI doesn't have a driver profile on a particular game, or the game is very new, SLI may not work and you'll be reduced to the performance of a single GTS 250 (or worse in some cases). I'm not saying don't do it, just be aware that could happen. |
Well thats freekin great!
It shows why I've been an ATI guy all my life...
I have a few things to do with this setup.
Im installing windows 7 this week...still debating for 32 or 64 bit...but prolly 32. Once that settles down, I'll see how the performance is. Its great for the most part and I really don't mind turning off some shadows and setting detail to medium... but in the future I was counting on the SLI option to bail me out when new games start coming out that I can't run anymore.
God Nvidia sucks...
