Forums - Gaming - Can the videogame industry survive lazy players, reporters, and fanboys?

With all this talk about DEVELOPERS and COMPANIES being lazy, I am left wondering if the videogame industry can survive having an abundance of lazy players and fanboys.  I am seeing these as signs of laziness, and have to wonder if we can survive this (We have...):

* Individuals who are alergic to waggle.  We have individuals who refuse to get up and move and insist that pad controllers with analog sticks are the only way to go.  To get out of the chair and move is considered embarrassing to such individuals.  The hate the idea of motion control catching on, and consider pure play to be a pad controller, or keyboard and mouse.

* Individuals who sit on their chairs and post messages on forums like this, without using spell checkers, or even composing messages offline before posting.  Included in this is individuals who merely reply with words like "This" to a message, because it is easier than typing something else.

* Individuals who think that worshipping corporations is an awesome thing, and feel the need to parrot back every single company line on forums like this.

* Individuals who refuse to see that people have different interests, and believe that their own views are what matters.

* Individuals who spout predictions about the future, as if they are the truth and a lock to happen, and get guest spots on Internet videogame shows where people chat about things.  These predictions are generally wishful thinking, not based on any research, but what pops into their heads as a "cool hunch" or a deep desire.  They are Crazzy in their nature.

* Videogame reviewers who entire job is to sit in a chair and consume mass quanities of videogames, and then spout their opinion over the Internet.  They justify their use of stick figures for their reviews, and speaking way too fast, because they have a cool hat and cutting humor (Yes I am looking at you Yahtzee).

* Individuals who spend every moment of free time playing MMOs, and believe that you have real friends because they campaign with you in WoW.

* Individuals who aren't involved in creating videogames, call others who make them, "lazy".

* Individuals who have a wish they could install a toilet where they play, so they never have to get up at any time:

Actually, forget just the videogame industry.  I believe entire civilization is put at risk by this.

(Take that Rol!)

Let the disagreeing begin....

yes, it will

What is wrong with worshipping corporations? And YES it will survive. It has survived H1N1 so a few lazy people won't affect it.

Yeah, just like it had for the past 30-odd years before the Wii when motion controls weren't around (mainstream).

It'll be just fine, relax.

Yeah i hope it does.

All of the things you mentioned have been around since the beginning.

"Why does everyone ask about Chrono Trigger? (responding to a comment about the title being loved) That's not what the sales tell me! If people want a sequel, they should buy more!" - Square Enix Senior Vice President Shinji Hashimoto

You have single handedly insulted just about every person on these boards. Congratulations. You win a cookie. Just go to your browser cookie cache and enjoy :)

Bye the way yes it will survive. How do I know this. Check this link(http://www.rpg.net/) The website in question is the biggest forum of the community. Just about every RPG gamer goes to this website. That's sad because that's all the entire industry needs. Not hundred of sites, just 1 and a couple of supporting sites. Btw yes I do visit this site regularly. Yes I'm being just as bad as the OP by refering the site in question of the OP target.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Worship is one thing.  When you act as an unpaid PR person for them, and just parrot whatever they want you to say, you are being lazy.

I am glad that browser cookies are immune to having glass in them, if I happen to get a cookie for insulting everyone on here.

Anyhow, I hope the changes to my original post makes what I was trying to say a bit more clear.   I also likely have a lot more to do before I can approach the offsomeness of Rol.
